when we arrived we went to meet barbie in dressing room and the conductor - he was lovely - took dd1 onto stage and she met the orchestra, they rehearsed what they were going to do (dd1 was going to conduct a section from the nutcracker)
we watched the first half from our seats and then at interval we went backstage- maestro said "i have a very special guest, shes only 5 years old..." and dd1 walked on, no nerves at all, she stood on podium and waved at the HUUUGE crowd and they all waved back "hi dd1" she then said "hello" to th e orchestra and they all said "hi dd1" she then tapped her music stand (!) as you do and raised her baton (she had a special silver sparkly one) and i could see her counting "one two one two"
then it was all over, she took a bow and then walked off hardly getting through the door with her beaming smile
