Comparing Covid restrictions with the Holocaust

There’s been a lot of this recently. People are using the example of Nazi Germany and especially the Holocaust to protest about Covid restrictions; this is very offensive, and Jewish organisations have begged people to stop doing this. I have informed posters of this on threads, but still they continue.

The Holocaust is not to be used to score cheap points about vaccine passports, or the non-vaccinated needing tattoos or badges as part of a ‘slippery slope’ argument. It cheapens the memory of a comparatively recent horror, and antisemitism has already increased during the pandemic.

Can I ask what Mumsnet’s policy is on this please? If we report these posts will they be deleted by the mods?

Hello @DismantledKing thanks for sharing your thoughts. While we look at everything in context, it's highly likely we'll remove posts like this (and have done on several threads). We recognise how deeply offensive and distressing the comparison is.

Please keep in mind that as a post-moderated site, we may not see a post unless it's reported and so please do report. Thank you.
