When did a quiet thread become a good enough reason to delete?

I've just opened a thread which had the following deletion message..."As this thread hasn't been posted on much, we've agreed to take this down for the OP."
How is that a valid reason to delete the thread? Given it was on the active section if it had been left up for longer it could very well had more replies. Hmm

Thanks for getting in touch about this and sorry for any confusion caused here.

The poster had privacy concerns. We do try to push back where possible, but if a thread is relatively short and we feel it won't be missed, then we don't see the point in making anyone's life harder than it needs to be. For this reason, we took it down.

I think it was poorly worded.

I didn't post on it but I did think when I read the deletion message, that it sounded a bit dismissive of those who had taken the time to reply to the OP.

This - we will word the deletions better in future. Sorry about that.
