Are you free to help test drive the new Mumsnet Talk Platform?

Back in May JustineMumsnet made the announcement that later this year we will be re-platforming Mumsnet Talk.

As Justine said, we will be keeping the functionality largely unchanged for now (the aim will be to make updates and add more features once we're on the new platform) but we are planning some limited improvements to the user experience and to some aspects that don't function at all well or where there are large inconsistencies across the desktop and mobile versions of the site.

We are really keen to get Mumsnetters testing this new platform at every stage to ensure we get it right. We now have a working prototype of the new talk platform and over the next few weeks we really want to put this prototype through its paces so we can bring to light any bugs or usability issues.

This is where you come in, if you think you’ve got time over the next few weeks to help us, then we’d love for you to sign up to our testing panel. We are running individual sessions via Zoom - these tests should only take around half an hour. And don't worry, you won't have to turn on your camera!

Please sign up here to take part and we will get back to you to arrange a convenient time.

Thanks

MNHQ

This makes me nervous. Mn don't have a great track record on the tech side to be honest - if it ain't broke...

Why are you doing this ? (I suspect money saving)

SourMilkGhyll · 06/07/2021 23:43

Please don't change the classic, no frills, 1000 posts look.

GoatsInATree · 07/07/2021 10:03

I lost 1000 posts when I cancelled my old account after Jeffreygate or Interngate or such.
I fully understand why those who still have it want to keep it, and I would very much like to have it back.
So please consider making it available to all.

I'll probably be free to test but, umm, I don't tolerate ads well

Izzy24 · 08/07/2021 04:34

Happy to test.

But I’ve only ever used my mobile…..

(Should I hang my head in shame?)

What is this 1000 posts per page you speak of and how can I have it? The most I can have is 100, and I have to click to get that on every thread.

Wallywobbles · 09/07/2021 06:06

Count me in please. Always enjoy these.

It's something that was available years ago. MNHQ wanted to speed up the site, so they stopped the 1000 posts per page option. But those of us who already had it were allowed to keep it. It means we see the whole thread as one page.

Happy to test too.
