Ads on MN

I have noticed that we have a lot more ads (flashy one at the top of the page and one at the side of thread). They do not really bother me much but I wondered about the fact that I am getting a mixture of German and English ones. Does that mean that MN benefits from me buying something advertised here?

Do all the overseas MNetters have their own ads?

Hi Kindersurprise,
Mostly we are paid according to the number of page views for ads rather than actual clicks and sales - though ultimately clicks and sales are what advertisers are after so that will be what determines repeat business. Ads for our partners or on our shopping page are generally for affiliates, which means we tend to get paid only if folks actually buy something.

Our agency does seem to have the ability to recognise and target overseas ISPs - clever old things.

Anyway - glad the ads aren't annoying you and don't feel you have to do anything you'd rather not - thanks for your interest .
