Why was thread about the VAWG survey moved from FWR?

Hi MN,

I was just looking back at my previous threads and noticed the thread from FWR about the government consultation on violence against women/girls had been moved to "petitions and activism" shortly before the end time of the consultation.

Obviously it's a bit late now, but just wanted to flag this up and ask why it was moved there, as a) it's not a petition, nor "activism" as such, but a government consultation which I believe even MN had been promoting for people to complete, according to some posts on the thread, and b) surely as such, FWR was a very appropriate place for it and to encourage women with an interest in stopping VAWG to complete it, whereas the "petitions" topic (which is very quiet) was hardly likely to help anyone notice that the consultation was active and about to close.

Not much that can be done about it now of course as the consultation will now have closed, but I wanted to mention it to understand the reasons for the move and maybe prevent this happening to similar things in future, as this is obviously a very important topic for MNers.

Thank you!

Hi @ahagwearsapointybonnet,

Points taken, absolutely!

We're sorry this thread was moved over so close to the deadline. As a rule we tend to move any survey or petition threads over to the appropriate topic (be that NFP Surveys or Petitions & Activism), but in retrospect we agree that this one really should have been left to run on our main talkboards, just to allow as many women as possible to take part in this consultation.

As you've said, unfortunately the consultation deadline has now passed but we've taken on board your comments and will do our utmost to prevent this from happening in future.

For anyone who missed it at the time, here's a link to the consultation - Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Call for Evidence.
