No worries - probably a case of once bitten twice shy

I can't see this either, and I've chosen 'classic' so maybe it doesn't appear.

So why don't you opt for classic? I agree it sounds a bit kind of mean, and I know what people mean re: not being interested in conception/potty training threads any more - but you never know when you can help someone who's right in the middle of potty training hell and you had an experience which might be helpful to share.

I have classic lol

and it is on every thread in active convos in the list thread title ends with ignore

so fifty threads in active convos equals fifty x ignore on the page

Dotty,

You can exclude whole topics, but you can also exclude individual threads in topics that you are otherwise open to.

I don't know about others, but what I have found in the last few days is that I have hardly ever clicked on 'threads I'm on'. I feel that I am reading more threads rather than less.

Aahh! Hadn't seen the ignore until just now - was obviously mentally ignoring it!

Really don't get that to be honest - am even more confused. If you want to ignore it, you just ignore it, surely???

Call it 'hide' instead.

Can you un-ignore it btw? I am ignoring everything in active convos as I go past it and don't fancy it. What if I want to change my mind?

Hekate - click on customise active conversations & you'll find a list of your ignored threads, with 'show' next to each. Click on show and they will reappear (if they are still in active convos of course)

Has ignore function been removed now?? I cant see it anywere.

I think it's gone because I just wanted to ignore (prefer 'hide') something and couldn't

Come On Tech - pls get a bit of change control going on. Perhaps a thread only you can write on in Site Stuff? Then at least we'd know immediately if you'd be tinkering making changes again.

PS please can I have a job at MN if you can make changes with no change control, bane of my life they are!

ahhh I see it now . I think its just not a nice feeling knowing that myself or others could post threads and find that no one replies and its due to being ignored.

If having posted something difficult and then randomly gets ignored, it could be quite deeply upsetting for them. Its quite subversive in a way , as it will be done unknowingly by the poster. It really doesnt help the community feel at all, in fact it splits MN community even further. Or is it we are giving policing/empowerment to the individual. It just doesn't feel right to me.

I'm mystified.

What is the ignore function and how do i use it?

I have worked out how to leave certain boards - like for Sale - out of my active convos list...but is the ignore thing different?

Report
Blu · 28/10/2007 19:56

Oh, OK, I have found it.

Seems a bit over-managed - i don't think I'll be using it much!
