Would a 'Point Taken' facility be a good thing?

especially on AIBU?

So many times someone asks an AIBU question, or other, and they get a swift and unanimous response....and then it goes on...and on...and they say 'yes, thank you, i realise i am being Unreasonable...I will take your point...and the criticism and naying for blood gathers pace because no-one has resad the whole thread, and it stays in active convos, and the OP goes back and says 'but i did say I had listened to you and have changed my view...and then another 3 posters come on and castigate them....and it's as boring as this great long repetitive sentence....and no doubt demoralising fr the poor OP....

Could an OP have the facility to 'lock' a thread with 'thank you, point taken'?

From Fembot number 2562:
Hmm, not sure about this one. We're having a meeting next week and we'll see what we think.

Hmm we are not so keen on locking threads as a principle or editing posts because it could lead to confusion about who said what when. But we do know what you mean and why this is annoying... We hope this is one of the things that will be improved by customisable talk - coming this pm barring a hurricane in Florida. This will give you a facility to ignore a particular thread - ie remove from your active conversations list - as well as the ability to ignore whole topics.

Thanks for the thought as ever - we can of course re-visit this if customisable talk doesn't help.
