Can we see other posters name changes?

On Mumsnet premium can we see a list of people's previous usernames, or is that only something admins can see? (Don't have premium and wondering if it's included)

MNHQ have just messaged me to say it's not a feature of premium so that's clarified things now, thanks (mostly) everyone for your input.

Sorry but absolutely not - the namechange feature is for privacy and that wouldn't change with premium. Never will anyone other than us mods be able to see namechanges.

Absolutely against this!

People name change in order to be able to post and ask advice on possibly more identifying matters or on a subject they don't want linked to their usual username

It's particularly useful for mners seeking advice and support on domestic abuse, addiction etc

Please don't take that away from them!

If you suspect sock puppetry report and the admins can check and deal with it, and removing this wouldn't remove the ability to sock puppet anyway as you say they could create a "burner" email address and do it anyway AND that would actually make it harder for admins to check. Which makes me wonder if that's your motivation ?

This is a terrible idea. I deliberately use a name change for stuff that’s more outting as I’m sure lots of people do. I don’t think people realise quite how identifiable they are by dropping lots of little bits of info in to multiple posts.

I agree. With a previous username I googled some of the information I'd put on MN and it led back to me. I changed my username sharpish, I can tell you.
