WideWebWitch · 17/10/2007 18:27

Just opened a window with IE and I can see the noticeboard pin thing.

littleNonSpecificHolidaylapin · 17/10/2007 18:27

I really can't see it as a duck

Nope, still a drawing pin!

WideWebWitch · 17/10/2007 18:28

Oi, mn towers, you haven't started having PINNED threads or something have you? Oh no, so then it'll be LOCKED threads and HOT threads and blah blah, oh now, it'll be like Babyworld, waah waah

WideWebWitch · 17/10/2007 18:30

Oh I can see it in ff too now

OliviaMumsnet · 17/10/2007 18:32

Can someone please tell us what the duck is advertising?
Thanks

WideWebWitch · 17/10/2007 18:34

It's not a duck olivia, it's that pin thing, cod thought it was a duck, clearly she needs glasses

FlameBat · 17/10/2007 18:36

I can see it as a sort of chick...

It is irritating though, as much as I am all for the xmas appeal, can't we just bump lots like normal?

littleNonSpecificHolidaylapin · 17/10/2007 18:37

Someone else suggested it, I think it happened last year as well, so hands up, I asked MNHQ to do it... but if it's going to piss everyone off (NOT the idea of the appeal!) maybe I should ask for it to be removed? (sorry MNHQ! )

OliviaMumsnet · 17/10/2007 18:37

Ah right I seeeeeeeeeee.
The farkign duck is to denote why the Christmas thread is at the top.

ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween · 17/10/2007 18:38

The thread appears twice though. With and Without Duck.

fullmoonfiend · 17/10/2007 18:39

coo-ey Cod - better a duck than a farking pigeon

farkignduck · 17/10/2007 18:41

waddle waddle waddle

(shits on cod's shoulder)

RubberDuck · 17/10/2007 18:45

Olivia - while you're there ... can I please have a duck emoticon

My reasoning... it would annoy cod...

Tech · 17/10/2007 19:55

hello ADragonIs4LifeNotJustHalloween, that is indeed an error. It shouldn't appear twice. We'll have a look at it.

littleNonSpecificHolidaylapin · 17/10/2007 19:57

Oooh that would be lovely, if we could just have it at the top

Mercy · 17/10/2007 20:04

Kill the bloody rat, please.

The ad doesn't even tell you how to pronounce it properly.

I like ducks though.

TrickorTreat · 17/10/2007 20:05

duck off

Tech · 17/10/2007 21:29

I can't see the rat ad (i am in the u.s. at the mo). Does it say to prounounce it rat-a-TOO-ee? Should be RAT-a-twee I think innit if you want to sound all posh. I don't really see that paper pin's resemblance to a duck tho.

Tech · 17/10/2007 21:36

www, i think of them as pinned threads, but the others seem to call them "sticky" threads, so when I found a picture of a pin through a post-it I was very pleased. Think this is the only kind of "specialness" we are going to give threads though. And it's only "las brujas" at MNHQ who can do it, so most of the time it's likely to be one thread or no threads I'd think..... Reason it's come up now is I'm in the middle of doing all that ignore topics / threads / customising stuff for active convos - which should be ready for public use some time next week.

ScaryScaryNight · 17/10/2007 21:39

Tech, it is dead slow here at the moment. I havent got problems browsing anywhere else, only here on MN. Is there a problem? Should I just call it a night?

allhallows · 17/10/2007 21:39

A sprig of holly would be more seasonal.

Hi SSN, I'm not aware of any problem. The server itself has plenty of spare capacity, so I'm not sure what it could be sorry.

Tech · 17/10/2007 21:44

Hi Justjules, I can't set up new topics. The editors decide which ones get set up. They normally announce when new ones get created.

ScaryScaryNight · 17/10/2007 21:44

Oh, it seems mentioning it to you worked, now it is back to its good old self! evening saved. what ever you did, thanks
