MN HQ, please can any COVID related threads be routinely moved to the COVID topic if reported?

I know I’ve asked this before, and the last time I did have quite a lot of agreement and you said that you would think about it.

At the moment we have almost hundreds and hundreds of threads on a daily basis, saying how people are so fed up of this/so anxious/how x and y and z is unfair/how they’re worried etc etc etc, and all these threads are just fuelling the anxieties that COVID has created.

I realise that people can hide threads, but they have to look at them in order to hide them. If they were routinely put in the COVID topic or moved there if reported, those people who want to live eat and breathe COVID and share their mutual fears etc could do so in the topic provided. The rest of us can actually then try to revert to some kind of normality in terms of posting here without being constantly overwhelmed by the need to talk about COVID, and can just hide the COVID topic.

Yes, COVID exists, we all know that. But whether we like it or not we have to get through it, and talking about it constantly isn’t going to make that any easier, quite the opposite in fact.

Hi OP

Thanks for raising this again.

We do move threads but sometimes it can be a bit of a tricky one - for instance, we find that some covid threads often do fit into AIBU, or AMA. Sometimes, even relationships!

We do move them when they really obviously fit into the covid category, but quite often they just don't, and it isn't that simple.

As you said, it's a pretty big thing in the world at the moment and pushing all of the threads about it into one little corner of the site would not only take up a huge amount of resources, it could also put people off talking about it.

We understand it can be annoying - it's in the news, on the web, radio, social media etc. But sadly, that's just how it is at the moment.

Please do continue to report anything that you think should be moved, we're always happy to take a look, and we will move over anything that definitely belongs in the covid topic. Flowers
