Wrong content-type header for attached images

Background

My better half was reading a thread on the Android app, and we couldn't zoom in to see a detail mentioned in the post. So I opened mumsnet on it on my laptop, browsed to the thread, and clicked on the image.

Steps

  1. View an image attached to a post, like this one: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4021644-weird-neighbour?pg=2#prettyPhoto/1/
  2. Drag the image to the address bar, or copy the image location and paste it into the address bar and press return - the usual way that you get round a shitty gallery app that doesn't work properly.

What I expected to happen

The browser window shows just the image, and you can zoom in and out using ctrl+scroll, pinch zoom, or however you usually zoom in to a web page.

What actually happened

A "download this file" box appears, and the image doesn't even have a proper file name.

Technical details

Your web server is serving the incorrect MIME type for JPEG images. It is sending a content-type: application/octet-stream header rather than content-type: image/jpeg.

Example: www.mumsnet.com/uploads/talk/202009/large-735075-image1

Hi OP

We've raised this with our tech team now - someone will take a look soon!

Hi thanks for the bug report. We'll look into that. The mime type is indeed wrong as you noted.
