If I sign up to Mumsnet Premium will this bloody infuriating advert go away?

I don't really have a problem with the banner ads, but the ones that appear as a big block underneath the banner ads (like this "return to the gym in style" one) take a few seconds to load and I'm forever clicking on it by accident because when it loads everything else on the page moves down. So active convos will appear, I'll click on the first thread, but then this prick of an advert loads up and I end up opening that instead of the thread I originally clicked on Angry

I'll happily pay for Premium if this specific advert stops appearing but if this one stays to fuck up my MN experience, then there's no point!

Hi OP

Thanks for raising this.

We're not too sure ourselves so we've asked our adops team and will let you know.

In the meantime, could we possibly ask what device and browser you're using, and could you grab us a screenshot of the advert playing up (if possible)?

Crapster · 23/08/2020 10:52

It doesn't play up as such, so there's nothing to screenshot. It just takes a bit longer than the rest of the page to load, so the page loads without it as though it's not there at all, and then when the advert loads a second or two later everything shifts down the page. So if I've already clicked on something near the top of the page, I end up opening the advert instead!

I'm using Chrome on an S7 if that helps.

Bit of a difficult question but can you give us an estimate, in seconds, on how long the advert takes to load up?

BananaSpanner · 24/08/2020 20:50

This happens to me with various websites. You think your clicking on one thing only for an advert to load and then a whole new page pops up. Drives me insane but I always presumed it was deliberate. For that reason, I would never pay to get rid of it, I just pause my thumb before clicking on anything Smile

Can I bump this? When does this bloody offer finish? Sick of clicking on it.

LilyMumsnet · 28/08/2020 15:15

Hi all

Is the same happening with the long load time?
If so, can you let us know what devices and browsers you're both using?

BananaSpanner · 30/08/2020 02:54

iPhone and Safari.
