As some of you have already spotted, we've just released a feature that allows filtering threads to see all the OP's posts, and to jump to the next post from the OP. This is something a number of you have been wanting for a while. It's being rolled out across multiple servers and across the app over the next 24 hours - so don't panic if you don't see it immediately - it's on it's way!

In addition we've released filter posts by User (as well as by OP) for Premium members.

We tested a few different variations with Mumsnetters so hopefully it's intuitive and useful but it's just a first pass and we will be improving the design, so please do, as ever, let us know if anything's amiss or confusing.

Further explanation here:
Filter by OP
You will now see two options at the bottom of the OP posts - ‘see next’ will skip you to the next post by the OP and ‘see all’ will show you a filtered view of all the posts by the OP on that thread. You’ll need to be logged in to use this feature.

Filter by user
On mobile, on any post click the menu icon (the icon with the three dots), and click 'See all posts'. On desktop, click the 'See all' link in the top right hand corner of any post. This will show you a filtered view of all the users posts on that thread. This is a premium feature so you’ll be prompted to sign in or create a premium account to use it.

Thanks for the suggested tweaks - we promise to look at them all. I have to apologise that this feature isn't yet available on the android app. We hope to address that soon and in the meantime, it's obviously there on the mobile site.

As someone's already confirmed, the filter works on username, so name changing within a thread wouldn't be picked up by it, but don't worry the mod team are very alive to this and take a dim view - it's explicitly against our guidelines to name change to mislead. Thanks for all the input.

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

Love it!

Now no one can say they've "not read the whole thread" - they can just press that, read all the OP updates and then post.

I though that HRTT quote was referring to other replies for the OP to read? Ie; not wanting to repeat someone else but not having enough spare time before the bus is due at the bus stop to read 783 posts before posting yourself?!

Amazing! Thank you WineCake

SunshineCake · 03/07/2020 18:22

@EasilyDelighted

Just me that doesn't like it then!
Then don't use it Confused.
CokeEnStock · 03/07/2020 18:22

Is it only for Premium users as that's what my iPad says.

PETRONELLAS · 03/07/2020 18:31

So good! Thank you it’s brilliant.

TerrapinStation · 03/07/2020 18:45

That must be a problem with your ipad, I don't pay for premium and it works fine for me
Concestor · 03/07/2020 20:01

I can't see it. I'm on Android

BitOfFun · 03/07/2020 21:54

That's because it's not been developed for Android yet, Justine said.

itsnotyouitsyou · 03/07/2020 22:52

FINALLY!!

Minniee · 03/07/2020 23:39

If someone accidentally uses a different user name, like they often do in the relationship board, and then forgets and posts under their original name, it shows all their posts as OP regardless of the name they first posted under.

This could cause problems if, for example, an ex then gets confirmation of other user names.

Love this!

ViveLEntenteCordiale · 04/07/2020 09:36

It is great! I beta tested it for all posters, it's a shame we had that and it's been taken away. (I'm long-term sick and DH is out of work so no I can't afford premium.) Also on the app the bookmark feature is now the third item on the pull-out menu after quote and filter and therefore not very user friendly. I would have thought bookmark was used the most (certainly more than a premium-only feature) so why not have it nearer the beginning? I'll be annoying people by place marking with a post now, I'm afraid.

Concestor · 04/07/2020 10:19

It's not working for me when I'm signed in on the app but it works on the browser version if I'm not signed in. So weird.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 04/07/2020 12:15

Where did the "see full OP" used to be, before this was added? And what wording was used then?

That's my only complaint — I keep clicking "see all" when I actually want to expand. I know it's user error, but it seems to be muscle memory to click there!

VioletCharlotte · 04/07/2020 13:27

This feature worked for me yesterday but now I'm getting a
message saying it's only for premium users.

JaneJeffer · 04/07/2020 13:59

Same here @VioletCharlotte

Don't worry, @MoaningMinniee - as Justine's explained upthread, the filter by OP function shows only those posts in the OP's username. So if an OP inadvertently posts under the wrong username, those posts wouldn't show in the list and no one would be any the wiser.

Another poster has tested it out over on this thread - Testing name changing and show OP - just to be sure! Smile

Hi @VioletCharlotte and @JaneJeffer - just checking, are you trying to use the Filter by OP function, or the Filter by User one?

Filter by OP is available to all Mumsnetters, while Filter by User is for Premium subscribers only.

If Filter by OP isn't working for you today, can you please let us know which device you're using to view Mumsnet, and which version of the site, so we can get our Tech team to take a look.

Thank you.

DanceWithYourBalloon · 04/07/2020 17:06

@DawnMumsnet

When I click on the filter button it tells me its only accessible to premium users. I'm using the app on an iPad.

WhereYouLeftIt · 04/07/2020 18:04

I love this feature!

DanceWithYourBalloon · 04/07/2020 19:33

Ignore me. I've found it. Smile

igotmyreddressontonight · 04/07/2020 19:37

It doesn't work for me, I've just updated the app aswell? Same as usual

igotmyreddressontonight · 04/07/2020 19:38

Oops sorry swiped on the wrong part! Great idea to have added this feature
