it's not like that at all because almost every thread is started by me, and I may be a bit odd, but I don't compete with myself, yet!
and as for the new thread every week, that's partly because I hate waiting ages for it to load up when it gets too big, and partly because that way the thread title isn't around too long to bore you all!

MrsMarvel, the mothers of many children with SEN who post on MN asked to have that button put there. Beacsur they were fed up of people who didn't have children with SEN 'dropping in' to special needs by accident and would make some blindingly crass comments.

SN was singled out for very good reasons.

Parents of children with SN posted threads which were sometimes posted upon by people who didn't realise it was a SN thread.

So imagine one called "DS is 7 and I can't find big enough pull-ups for him" - and then imagine the posters who say "FFS, why is a 7yo still in nappies?!" because they've arrived on the thread in the course of an active convo peruse and aren't sensitive to the issues in that topic. This way, people can choose to include or not and there have been fewer kick-offs - there used to be a couple a week otherwise.
