AIBU overrun by political threads

AIBU is being swamped by political threads on both sides. Can they be moved to Politics. It feels like half the threads are 10 reasons why Corbyn or Johnson are responsible for everything that’s wrong with the world.

Yanbu. Aibu is 90% non-aibu at the moment as opposed to the usual 80%. To an outsider it makes this site look fucking ridiculous.

It’s because all the other boards are so quiet and dont get traffic. MN’s name ought to be changed to AIBU.

As long as they begin “Just posting for traffic” no one cares what the post is about or whether or not they are being unreasonable!

Personally I blame it all on Plaid and the SNP oh and Nigel Farage.

Seriously MN I love a good political debate but AIBU feels like bot central right now.

i do sometimes wonder why we have topics. surely if people posted in the correct topic. topics would be used more.

I agree it's repetitive, but am guessing it will settle down after the election.

The labour bots will stop on 13th Dec, apart from the wailing that comrade Corbyn did not win

I think there's a lot more tension and malice surrounding this election that I've ever experienced before, even more than the Brexit referendum

I do think AIBU would be a healthier place us threads were routinely moved to their rightful homes am guilty of commenting on the political threads

Leave 'em where they are, I say. Just scroll past if you don't want to read them. They are important and it's a pity MNHQ have shifted genuine AIBU Brexit threads for years now.

AIBU is misused all the time. I went through a fruitless spell of reporting some threads and suggesting they be moved but MNHQ don't care.

I'm not sure where this specific AIBU angst has come from anyway. AIBU has had plenty of political threads for as long as I can remember.

There'll probably be lots in the next two weeks, then die down a bit. If MNHQ decide to move them (and all the other 100s of non-AIBU threads in AIBU) then no worries, but, you know, it's a fortnight. It's not even crowding out the Christmas threads which have been ramping up for weeks and make me want to whimper in a corner.

I'd vote for a MIL board.

I think AIBU attracts trolls and we can't really guarantee authenticity anymore ..considering one recent thread in particular where OP was commenting as multiple versions of themselves

I’ve been on MN for a long time too (I think I may have posted on pombears)and this is the worst I’ve seen it. It feels like it’s coming from the Parties themselves rather than just posters.

Just popping in to answer some posters. There are currently(!) only a handful of the first 50 threads showing up in AIBU that are political/Brexit related, which doesn't feel like a swamping.

We don't have hard and fast rules and generally we only move threads if they're really out of place in the topic they've been posted.

Although, if anyone really can't take any more politics, we suggest making use of the Hide function.

If I have to scroll past all the CF threads, then people can do the same for the politics ones.

I see MNHQ have dropped the folksy patter of yore!
