I struggle to get beyond first page (sometimes even first post) before the add at the top flickers and my page is frozen / black.

Android phone FWIW.

I am on IOS and the william hill advert is making the screen jump up and down two or three times during the course of reading a page. Not a pleasant experience

That’s without going into the morals of having gambling adverts at all, or worse, ones that can be clicked on accidentally as they are taking up so much screen

DownWentTheFlag · 08/09/2019 07:45

I am also having problems on every thread with William Hill adverts making the page jump down.
I’m on iPhone using safari version 12.4.1

chemenger · 08/09/2019 08:25

Why does the William Hill Ad need to have four blocks and flash? It is, as PPs said, making the threads it intrudes on unreadable.

DameSquashalot · 08/09/2019 08:27

I now use an ad blocker for Mumsnet.

Berthatydfil · 08/09/2019 09:03

I’m having jumpy screens too - very irritating

OublietteBravo · 08/09/2019 09:25

I’m struggling with the William Hill ads. They’re currently making it impossible to get to the comment box on some threads as the screen just will not stop jumping.

QueenMabby · 08/09/2019 09:44

Yes please stop with the William Hill ads. Firstly they’re massive and take up huge chunks of thread space and secondly, no matter how much they are paying you, you are being irresponsible advertising gambling. Please stop.

LilyMumsnet · 08/09/2019 09:53

Hi all,

Can we have some screenshots of the adverts that are causing issues, along with the usual device and browser?

chemenger · 08/09/2019 09:53

What QueenMabby said.

It’s particularly difficult to write a post because of that damn William Hill ad, please get rid.

chemenger · 08/09/2019 09:59

iPhone on Safari mobile site. The ones in the middle of a thread start with one or two blocks then add more, hence the jumping (I think). I don’t know what a screenshot really tells you since the whole advert is bigger than a single screen (the comment box just jumped out of view as I was typing this btw).

Could you also comment on why you feel promoting gambling is a good idea?

RaininSummer · 08/09/2019 10:06

I had this problem and could only solve it by using the app. Not ideal as you can't see the polls on the app the ads are a nightmare.

Plasebeafleabite · 08/09/2019 11:02

Here’s the one from this thread......

Plasebeafleabite · 08/09/2019 11:04

It’s at five blocks now

lapofhonour5 · 08/09/2019 11:18

Not at all impressed by Mumsnet promoting gambling. I’m sure it’s a great money spinner but dubious at best and very intrusive. I will probably stop using Mumsnet if it continues.

chemenger · 08/09/2019 11:29

Handy hint, there is an x in the corner of the ad, clicking it hides the whole thing and stops the jumping (I think). Better by far if it just went away for ever.

OublietteBravo · 08/09/2019 11:32

Safari on iPhone. I can only get part of the ad on the screen at once.

And a ridiculous amount of them....

Having the same issue with the huge William Hill ad. This message just jumped away from me as I was typing it twice. So annoying! I’m on an iPhone.

FadedRed · 08/09/2019 11:45

Six of the bloody ads on this thread, and it’s jumping around like a flea in a fit.

chemenger · 09/09/2019 08:43

Still there MN.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 09/09/2019 08:45

It is pretty bad. The trouble is chemenger you have to close them (often twice) every time you go on a new thread

chemenger · 09/09/2019 09:49

Exactly, HerSymphony, but at least if you close it you can type on one thread. MN are clearly not sharing our pain on this one, maybe they have massive gambling debts with William Hill and need to pay them off in kind. Or maybe they’re all down at the bookies with the racing times.

DownWentTheFlag · 14/09/2019 09:30

This is happening again to me today, with William Hill ads. iPhone, safari version 12.4.1.

OublietteBravo · 14/09/2019 10:45

The William Hill ad is back, and my screen is jumping so much that MN is unusable
