Beta: 'Trending' and 'New' tabs in active conversations

JanineMumsnet · 16/05/2019 11:25

Hello everyone

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed a new addition to Active Conversations, which is the ‘Trending’ and ‘New’ tabs. We’ve made these changes to (hopefully) to make it easier for you to find interesting and popular threads as you navigate your way around Talk.

The Trending tab will show you the most popular threads being viewed at this moment in time. You already get this from the Trending Talk widget in the sidebar on a desktop device, but this should hopefully give you a more extensive list to choose from.

The New tab will show users a selection of recently created threads - typically these will be threads with fewer than 3 posts. This is all part and parcel of our aim to make parents' lives easier and our hope here is that it will mean that fewer of your posts go unanswered or get lost amid the throng.

Both the Trending and the New tab will mirror your talk preferences for your active conversations feed which you can adjust here. For example, the number of posts shown will be the same as your active feed and if you have selected to hide any topics then threads from these topics should not appear in these tabs.

You'll notice a little 'beta' icon next to the tabs when you first view them, and this is because this is something we are testing, so we absolutely welcome your feedback and please do leave your comments below on this thread.

Advice please,
Boyfriend and I are trying for our first baby. Last couple of days I've had nausea, headaches, back pain and he'll probably say mood swings. My period is due tomorrow so I did 2 years this morning both showed a very clear horizontal line and a faint vertical line making a plus.
Think this is a definite positive?? I suffer from anxiety and just don't wanna get hopes up if not right, planning on talking to doc tomorrow but opinions would be appreciated xSmile

Hi AdaColeman & Jux,

We're very much still around and really pleased you've flagged the "New beta" issues with OTBT.

We're hoping to fix this glitch very soon or the feature may well be turned off until we can.

Thanks again for your feedback; it's so helpful.

Hi all,
I looking for some employment advice please.

I had a 3 month notice period so in line with advice I submitted my flexible working application along side my resignation to my line managers (I had 2), neither were formally acknowledge or any process followed correctly. All that was addressed was the payment of my accrued holiday.

Then 3 weeks before my final day my company called and offered me a zero hours role, working from home (the dream), the offer was an email and detailed, hours, rate of pay and start date along with training. I accepted and waited for further info.
They requested I amended my resignation date (I worked for a client and the new role would Head office based) so that would enable me to attend the training with no complications. Then all went quiet.
Last night they emailed to say the role had not been approved & therefore they had nothing for me.
Never at any stage was it mentioned this role had not been signed off from a financial perspective.

Where do I stand?! Should I be thinking of taking action? All advice welcome.
I had worked for the company for 7 years and was their most senior manager. I feel incredibly angry and let down.

Thanks

Hi, I had my little girl on the 28th July through natural birth. I didn’t have any complications or need any stitches but I have got a graze. I was told it would heal on its own and it’s nothing to worry about but It’s starting to effect me going to the toilet. It stings like crazy to the point where I can’t cope. I’ve tried pouring water, sitting in the bath, sitting at an angle. Everything. Does anyone have any tips to help with the pain?

Have I missed something? Why have all these totally random posts suddenly started appearing on this thread?

MrsBez · 09/08/2019 16:05

Hi all,

I have just turned 35 weeks pregnant and have all of a sudden noticed stretch marks that go just above my belly button. I was wondering if I will keep gettin more stretch marks over the next 5+ weeks or if they will stay like this. Im not sure i can get many more unless the just get higher as time goes on. Any experiences with stretch marks would really help.
Thanks you!

Hi. This is my first very much wanted pregnancy and we've had a few issues. I knew I had PCOS anyway and it took us 2 years to fall pregnant though we were in no rush as I'm 23. At 16 weeks I was told I had type 2 diabetes and would need metformin and gradually 4 lots of insulin a day. At 20 weeks we found out the baby has a few abnormalities, he measures 4 weeks behind, has a hole in his heart that will definitely need surgery, has echogenic bowel and we have about half the amount of amniotic fluid that we should have. The placenta doesnt have a constant flow either. The doctor told us to to prepare for the worst but that was 4 weeks ago. We are 24+4 today and I feel him move all the time, he definitely told me off with a few kicks for not getting up for a wee the other day!
Basically, I'm absolutely terrified. No one in my family has experienced any of this and I've looked online but nothing is reassuring, or similar. Has anyone got any advice, or has been through something similar?
Thanks 🤞

Hi I'm three weeks pregnant for the last two days I have had light brown or pinkish bleeding when I wipe. I took a c/b test two days ago and it said 2-3 weeks I took another one two day and it says 1-2 weeks. No cramping and it's not getting any heavier.. my period should be due now I just wondered if it's happened to anyone and not been bad news. Thanks.

Hi, I’ve recently started shopping at Aldi and Lidl. Are there any products that I should avoid? What do you rate highly? Thanks

bryony199 · 05/09/2019 19:56

Hello, I'm new to this.. had a quick question (maybe to late now but worth a try) I work in a term Time nursery so just had 6 weeks off. Anyways my son is starting school reception class tomorrow and my employer has said I'm not allowed to have 30 mins off in the morning to take him? Do I have rights? Where do I stand? I've emailed them asking again because I really dont want to miss it! If I dont turn up can they dismiss me!
Thanks in advance!

@MNHQ not sure if you need to check things are working out as planned ?

The posters above seem to be looking for advice but have "landed" on this thread.

DebMc2010 · 09/09/2019 02:44

Hi ladies, we have been ttc for 16 months and I've had hormone and general health checks which have all been clear and I'm due to have an internal ultrasound in around 10 days. I had a 'period' last month which was a little different than usual, normally I'm 3 days heavy flow, 2 days moderate and 2 days of taper. This time I had 1.5 days light flow, 2 days heavy and 1 day light before it was abruptly gone. That was 6 days ago now and my boobs have not stopped hurting since before my 'period'. They are ridiculous in size (I've had to wear a bra that was previously too big for me). In addition I've been crampy and had increased cwm but so far 4 pregnancy tests are negative. Any ideas? I'm going nuts!!

@MNHQ I’ll report this post. Please could tech take a look? I don’t know why the questions above are landing on this page, but people might not get the support they are looking for.

Is it anything to do with ‘t internet tags or summat? Looks around for straws to grasp,

soniamumsnet · 13/09/2019 11:01

Hi, thanks for the reports about this. We're just taking a look and will let you know when we have more information. Smile
