Zapped threads

Hi. What happens if threads are taken down whilst you look behind the scenes? If they remain deleted does it indicate the OP was a troll or PBP or just lying? Or does the OP have to ask for it to be reinstated? So many threads are taken down but lots just say HQ are having a look into things. I'm terribly nosey and like to know what's happened

Hi there OP,

Whilst we can't comment on our procedures in detail, as it would be like the first edition to An Idiot's Guide to Trolling, we don't take the decision to delete threads lightly.

There could be a number of reasons to take a thread down and whether the thread is reinstated or not doesn't necessarily mean that the OP was or wasn't trolling. As we always say, we can never vouch for anyone on Mumsnet, so we suggest you don't give too much of yourself emotionally (or financially) to any thread or poster.

We hope this clears things up a bit.
