Constant spam pop ups

I'm getting a lot of sudden spam pop ups, and Google Safe Browsing warnings.

The pages they've been on are:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3579365-Teen-Stepdaughter?msgid=86878689#86878689

www.mumsnet.com/Talk

Screenshots of the warnings attached.

Any ideas?

I haven't clicked any ads either it's been when I'm either reading a thread or clicking on a thread title.

GetOffTheRoof · 07/05/2019 20:27

Just when navigating about - no ad clicking here. It pops up when you're reading something. Not been online for an hour or so, so no updates.

It happens just after a thread or page loads. Like the ads sometimes take a few seconds to load in. The warning then appears. When I click "Take me back to safety" it takes me back to the previous page.

So e.g.

Reading this thread
Click on Threads I'm on - loads - warning comes up (have definitely not clicked on page accidentally or otherwise)
Click "go back to safety"
Takes me back to this thread (not I'm on).

I don't think it's a redirect, I think it's picking up on a dodgy element of an ad within the page

Same as @BertieBotts

bizzey · 07/05/2019 21:21

Dame as Bertie.

Eyre89 · 07/05/2019 21:30

Same as Bertie too

Use an adblock fgs! It’s the only thing that makes MN readable.

BertieBotts · 07/05/2019 21:38

I'm only getting it on mobile. I use adblock on desktop because these kinds of dodgy ads come through all the time but MN persists in using third party ad generators rather than direct ads as they used to. I know that's the way internet advertising has gone - it's also why I have adblock turned on for 99% of sites. I would unblock MN if they were any good at stomping the malware but they aren't.

I had the same problem about an hour ago, the red screen appeared when trying to read something on Relationships. I have a LG android phone and I am in Manchester. It freaked me out as I just had massive security issues on most of my online accounts.

ReganSomerset · 07/05/2019 22:59

I've had this too. East mids, Sony, site tried to redirect me to a Samsung prizes website. I'll copy the url if it happens again.

AnyaMumsnet · 08/05/2019 11:38

Hi there all,

Can we just check this hasn't happened for anyone today?

MrsMozartMkII · 08/05/2019 12:16

I've not been on much but nothing so far, ta.

BertieBotts · 08/05/2019 12:23

Not for me today so far 👍

GetOffTheRoof · 08/05/2019 13:45

Hasn't happened here today either.

Weathergirl1 · 09/05/2019 17:52

@AnyaMumsnwt happened to me just now. Android using Chrome (can't take a screenshot as I'm using incognito). Warned me about iphone-givaway (was Samsung giveaway the other day). I'm in East Anglia.

Weathergirl1 · 09/05/2019 17:53

@AnyaMumsnet would help if I tagged you without a typo! ☝️
