Tip of the day is praise your partner for any little thing they do as they will continue to 'help'

Tip of the Day today, 10 July:

"Don't point score with your partner (I changed the last nappy) but praise them for any little thing they do. As much as it grates, positive feedback will result in them continuing to help. (Issb)"

I think actually, I'd give them some fking negative feedback if

a) they considered changing a nappy 'helping' when it's their child TOO
b) they needed treating and motivating as if they were a child
c) I felt 'as much as it grates' I ought to give them 'positive feedback' (what is this, a business transaction?)

Is Issb from the 1950's?

Mumsnet, can't you refuse to print old shite like this? Or did you not read this, did you just chuck it on?

i learned to cultivate 'quirky' persona. hah! most quirks have been stamped out by sleep deprivation now < oh poor me>

Quiddaitch · 11/07/2007 01:04

but the ouse is stiiiiiiiiil going on [oh my fking god its too tedious for words emoticon]

TranquilaManana · 11/07/2007 01:09

that is to say;

you do have A Lot On, nappies, don't you?

Quiddaitch · 11/07/2007 01:11

i'm okay. i should be working Right Now.

TranquilaManana · 11/07/2007 01:14

yeah? in that case ; Bugger off and Do Your Work, young lady

yes, i did buy clothes... might have been a situational mistake purchase however. found myself and dp in a floaty dress sort of place and duly purchased several flaoty dresses. which i will Never Wear. doh.

TranquilaManana · 11/07/2007 01:17

amsterdam is a loevly place. really gorgeous without being all twee. people really straight up and friendly. nice, i thought.
i wandered round van gogh museum for a bit of culture. and took three baths in the hotel. and not once did any childrten try to jump in with me

Quiddaitch · 11/07/2007 01:38

three baths... now that is bliss. i think that popular novels should be made in a waterproof edition for mums to read in the bath.
tell me why you won't wear the floaty frocks, though. are the really Not You? or are you thinking practically? because there's no point with a floaty frock, you just have to wear 'em and trust your dry cleaner.
for the other shoulder. so that you're matching.
