I really don't have the time to search for my colleagues' glaring mistakes... can you just tell me what it is and I'll fix it? Ta v much
JJMumsnet · 02/07/2007 12:42
Ok, please put me out of my misery. It was late and I was tired and I'm sorry and have no clue what's wrong.

The India Knight one is just being picky Run it past Google and see how many times you see someone referred to as a Sunday Times' columnist. For some reason you don't.
I've added teacher, btw, even though it reads like an Ant and Bee book now.

Ha ha!

Ahem......
My dog has a red coat. Does yours have one? Does your child's have one? Does James's have one? Does his have one? Does mine have one?
You don't need to keep repeating "dog". I think the the confusion comes from
Does your dog have one? Does your child's dog have one? vs Does yours have one? Does your child's have one?
In the latter pair "your child's" is like "yours" rather than "your" and doesn't need another noun as it is a noun itself sort of (would we be calling it a noun phrase maybe?).
As counsel for the defence, I rest my case. I'll be back for the final summing up. Unless I'm talking crap, in which case I'll run away back to the shed, and take no further part in the discussion.
