What's with all the old threads popping up in trending?

Just that, really - there are a few threads I can see in trending which are either ones which were started years ago and a poster has decided to add a comment to the question rather than start their own thread. Also, there is a thread in trending now which was started a few days ago and has not had a reply added to it for a few days, so it seems a bit odd that it is trending?

And another one, where ironically, a poster in May 2018 complains that another poster is reviving a zombie thread from 2011. However, now we have algorithms and software glitches doing it without intervention

Yes, still going on this morning, sort of glad it's not just me who's bothered by this! I see that RockingMyFiftiesNot started a similar thread about 10 days ago, to which @MNHQ replied saying it had been fixed with an update.
The one this morning is this here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3454972-To-take-more-time-off-from-new-job?trending=1 - but also, there is only one other thread in my "Tending" list on my laptop.
Something strange is happening..

Sorry, Ariadne, I didn't read all your posts, you've already mentioned the number of threads in "Trending".
(I need to get a life too.)

@MNHQ - only the Seafour thread in this Trending list was started recently and has a post from today on it.

I thought it was me on some old page, I just trawled through the feed a family for £280 thread and saw I had posted on it myself in May. No one had bumped it up though

DeepanKrispanEven · 21/12/2018 07:54

This issue seems to have gone into overdrive this morning - loads of different threads popping up in trending, but the vast majority haven't been posted on for at least a week.

Userplusnumbers · 21/12/2018 09:27

The first two in my trending at the moment are from 2010 and 2011!

MerdedeBrexit · 21/12/2018 09:36

I don't know why it is so annoying, but it is! Also, I am wondering if it may be a sign of the site being hacked again, but not being a techy, I have no idea if I'm talking through my hat or not. I have reported my original post to MNHQ in the hope they might have a look at what's going on.

It didn't work then Hmm

DeepanKrispanEven · 21/12/2018 11:36

It's annoying because you waste time clicking on it only to realise that it's dead - or, if it's a thread you remember, you may think it's trending because there's been an interesting update, when nothing has happened for weeks.

yawning801 · 21/12/2018 11:54

I've got one about dishwashers from 2012 down here... the number of threads has stayed at a constant number though, I'll be keeping an eye on it.

CarolineMumsnet · 21/12/2018 18:38

Hallo

Sorry for the delay (and we promise it's not because we've been too busy picking random threads to appear in trending).

While we look at things our end, could you let us know what device you are on and how you are accessing the site (mobile, app, desk top) just on the off chance that the gremlins are all hiding out in one place.

Cheers! Wine

But this made me laugh very much after a crappy week at work Grin

Thank you for this - guess it's the time of year for gremlins to be all over the place...

Will get back here soon with an update, and if anything changes in the meantime do let us know.

PinkBuffalo glad to have raised a smile after your crappy week. Hope things improve over Christmas Wine.
