Good morning MNHQ,

I was wondering how easy it is for a poster to have a thread deleted by saying they’d been identified in real life. Do you actually believe them or do you just think to yourself something along the lines of - you must have made a mistake in your thread and your only way out is to now say someone has identified you in real life and we’ll just go along with this face saving facade for you.

Ive been curious for a while now but I’m asking based on the thread you removed yesterday evening.

Hi there @PollyFlinderz,

We can't really comment on the thread you are referring to specifically, or on individual moderation decisions, but we do really try to avoid deleting whole threads. We always remind posters to not include more information than they are comfortable giving, but we know it's not always as simple as that. When posters have posted in haste, we ask them to look at other options like moving the thread, or editing small details first.

However, we aren't here to make anyone's life a misery, so in exceptional circumstances we will delete a thread to give a poster peace of mind, if no other options will do the trick. We just look at the individual thread each time, and take every deletion request on a case by case basis.

We hope this clears things up a bit.
