I have posted this in site stuff so it does not disappear.

It pre-dates you I think Liesel.

LieselVentouse · 30/05/2007 11:49

Ive been here longer than you

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 11:49

What?

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 11:50

Only if you have been here under another name. And even then, I have been here under several names. I remember Lieselvontrapp when she was a scared newbie.

LieselVentouse · 30/05/2007 11:51

A newbie yes - scared - never

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 11:52

Well, no, you weren't scared. But I remember you starting Mumsnet. You are one of the few people who I have spoken to as newbie who has not disappeared into the ether. Thre must be a certain something about you in that case!

LieselVentouse · 30/05/2007 11:53

I know - you need a pessary to get rid of me

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 11:54

Oh thanks for the advice. I will nip out to the chemist right now!

nally · 30/05/2007 11:56

ok, well shoot me down (maybe i should be hiding), but i don't get most of it. but then i have only been on mn since january this year.

go on, take aim........

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 11:57

Anything you want explained nally? As long as you don't ask me about the Boden dress

UndomesticGoddess · 30/05/2007 12:01

The first time I saw that I was a newbie and didn't have a clue what it was all about, with a couple of exceptions...

I get it all now

nally · 30/05/2007 12:11

well, better to list what i do understand, then you can explain the rest...

i understand: references to bf, avent, fruit shoot, grapes, weaning, lentils, fairtrade, mooncup, sherlock holmes, troll

see, i need an education!

nally · 30/05/2007 12:45

bump?

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 12:51

Um, ok, well some things are references to old fights on MN, eg sausage rolls, formula feeding, slogans on t-shirts (apparently) weaning spoons v BLW, Mac Donalds, 4x4s, chav (Burberry) the cat and the football, ear piercing (oh we haven't argued about that for ages!).

Some things refer to well-known posters' names eg cod, rhubarb, Mars, Twiglett, MartianBishop, Sherlock (aka LGJ, aka BreeVanDerCamp).

Some things are approved of by certain Mumsnetters eg Waitrose, Boden, Mooncups, Soupy the bat, fair trade (apparently!)

Some things caused funny moments (or rows) on Mumsnet eg the red rug was a thread started by an impoverished Mumsnetter who nevertheless had money to buy a new rug. The tablecloth is a reference to a funny thread about tablecloths. The pheasants were mentioned by Lavenderr (hence picture of lavender) who thought we would all approve of her son poaching.

The organ doner thing refers to Misdee's dh who is waiting for a transplant (he is pictured too).

Judge Flounce was a famous troll on MN.

Umm, anything I have missed?

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 12:52

Oh 4 is what you say when you mean you don't care about the argument. It was the fourth option on a list of responses given by a Mumsnetter.

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/05/2007 12:53

Go to the top of the class DG.

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 12:54

I dont remember why the teenage boys are in it though. And are they doing something illegal? Or was it just a general loathing of hoodies?

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 12:56

I can't help but think of other suitable images you could add LGJ. How about finding a photo of one of those fluffy fleeces with wolves or puppies on them?

bosscat · 30/05/2007 12:56

fab, loved the music

nally · 30/05/2007 12:57

ok, so i just need to be around for more arguments to understand any future montages!!! i have witnessed some fine bust-ups on mn and have ventured into a couple myself (just backing people up, not brave enough to start anything myself )

DumbledoresGirl · 30/05/2007 12:59

I have fond memories of some of the bust ups shown here. The pheasant thing was a highlight, and Judge Flounce of course.

All the rows these days seem to be too nasty to make it into anyone's happy memories

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/05/2007 13:01

It does need updating, I will do it in the autumn when they days are long and dark. Promise.

OP posts:
Twiglett · 30/05/2007 13:02

oh

that's you then is it?

BreeVanDerCamp · 30/05/2007 13:03

But you are right about the bust ups.

LGJ wanders off......I remember when it were all fields around here.......

Boco · 30/05/2007 13:06

That's brilliant, love the happy birthday followed by the twigletts. I fell for that one - underlining my newbieness.

What are the monster hands and the baby in the spaghetti, and the green and blue symbol thing?
