When does a TAAT become a TAAT or a thread in its own right?

Someone starts a thread about England not being supported by Ireland or Scotland fans in the World Cup. Gets deleted for not being 'in the spirit of MN'.

On that thread, there was a lack of knowledge about the geography and political history of the UK and Ireland. So I started a thread about that lack of knowledge. Not about that thread and the World Cup but more about the lack of knowledge. It was an interesting discussion and an important one - given Brexit and devolution.

I know it's your site. But does your TAAT definition stifle discussion from things that stem from other threads?

Good evening,
We'll try our best to clarify what a TAAT is.
A TAAT is a thread which appears to be referencing other threads either explicitly or obliquely.
We are more than happy for you to start a thread to discuss any issue/subject As long as it does not discuss another thread.
