MN HQ Have you pressed a button and made it all go funny?

My MN has gone all wrong. I can't get "all topics" from the menu at the top of the page. It only shows a few tabs, none of which load. I can only get to all topics by going round the houses.

Can we have the basic serach function back please?

I too would like the non complicated search option back again please.

Hi @Neolara, you can get to the talk index by clicking the 'Talk' link in the header navigation, both on mobile and desktop. We've also just added an 'All talk topics' link to the menu which will also take you there.

You can access the search on desktop by hovering/clicking on the magnifying glass icon in the top right of the menu bar. On mobile, just click the menu button and the search field is at the top of the slide-out menu.

Can I ask WHY it was changed? Seeing as it seemed to mostly work perfectly fine before hand? Or were the it techs just bored?

Hi @Graphista, yes certainly.

We changed it because the links in the main navigation were different depending on what page you were on. For example menu links in the pregnancy section were completely different to the menu links in Talk. On some pages the links were also different on mobile and desktop views. We found this made it hard for people to navigate the site, or even know what content was available.

To solve this, we've brought in a new, unified design across the whole site, hopefully making Mumsnet easier to navigate. See this thread for more info.

We're continually making improvements based on the feedback we get and data on how it's being used, so if there's anything we can do to make it better please do let me know.

I cant find older threads i was on via advanced search It asks you to put in who posted the thread. i cant always remember i have a very good memory but cant remember the name of every person who has ever posted a thread im a human............not a microchip.

I can remember thread titles and would put them into the basic search function and find them the advanced search function is too detailed.

Helena the advanced search function is that the one available via the shortcut at bottom of page?

If so yes there's an option to include a username but it's not required.

I've resorted to google at points

"Mumsnet thread title graphista" cos I've posted on it and it narrows the search. Sometimes they're not there cos they were in chat or another time limited area?

I've certainly looked for threads and been unable to find them and had to accept that even though I was sure they were in Aibu or relationships or whatever I must have mis-remembered

its ok i found it via google it was on the feminism board.

Hi - just realised how I can do a simple search. Wasn't looking carefully enough before!
