Advanced Search Question

Hi Tech, asked this question on another thread but it's better off in here.

Posting from a TwatPhone iOS 11.2.5 using Safari.

When I use advanced Search, when I click on the post (or poster) I am looking for, instead of taking me directly to the post within the thread, it drops me at the top of the thread. It never used to.

It's a pain in the arse. Especially if it's a long thread (eg, I was looking for a post I made a long time ago about the flooding in my home town. Adv Search found my post really quickly, as I knew a 'key' word and (obvs) that it was posted in my name. However when I clicked on that actual post it took me to the top of that thread and I had to scroll through, nearly to the bottom, to find the post I was after).

Another poster has the same issue, but someone who posts using their laptop doesn't. Is it just a phone thing?

Would appreciate you taking a look, cheers.

Not just a phone thing. I use laptop and tablet and it happens on both. I’d say it’s been going on for about a year. It’s rather frustrating.

Also, there are a lot of broken links from AS. I click on the thread title and it loads as “Oops, we can’t seem to find that page”.but if I enter the thread title in Google, it brings up the thread. I click it in the search results and it loads fine!

I use windows 10 Firefox and Safari ios ipad.

Is there any update on this yet? It's such a pain trying to find a relevant post in a long thread.

Also, the broken links I mentioned upthread. Unable to access from this site, but go to Google and put the thread title in and bingo! the link comes up, is clickable and takes me to MN and to the thread.

From experience, this usually happens with threads that go on for more than a page.

Yes, exactly - search by name works perfectly on a one-page thread but two pages or more, it goes straight to the top of page one.

I was hoping the Tech Team would have found a way to fix it by now. (This thread was actually started in January 2018 when we were told they were looking into it and same response in June 2018.)

Bumping because Advanced Search is still not working as intended. I appreciate the Tech Team have no doubt been busy with the issue of logging into other member's accounts.

I hope they have a more relaxed week ahead and can find a moment to fix Advanced Search.
