Advanced Search Question

Hi Tech, asked this question on another thread but it's better off in here.

Posting from a TwatPhone iOS 11.2.5 using Safari.

When I use advanced Search, when I click on the post (or poster) I am looking for, instead of taking me directly to the post within the thread, it drops me at the top of the thread. It never used to.

It's a pain in the arse. Especially if it's a long thread (eg, I was looking for a post I made a long time ago about the flooding in my home town. Adv Search found my post really quickly, as I knew a 'key' word and (obvs) that it was posted in my name. However when I clicked on that actual post it took me to the top of that thread and I had to scroll through, nearly to the bottom, to find the post I was after).

Another poster has the same issue, but someone who posts using their laptop doesn't. Is it just a phone thing?

@soniamumsnet I've posted 57 times on this thread, each one referring to the fact that Advanced Search does not work if you are looking for a post on the second page or beyond. It goes to the top of page one and stops. Others have also posted multiple times.

INot much more I can say really other than it does not work and has not worked since January 2018!

Thanks for reporting this again. If anyone else is experiencing problems, please let us know. Please can you let us know the device, and version of the operating system you are using too?

This problem seems to be linked to my actual account (I think I've had this account for about 3 years now) rather than my devices as I had no issue with my original MN account.

It doesn't work for me - laptop, Windows 10 - and don't think it ever has since I joined a few years ago.

Will try on my iPad later.

What news from the bowels of MNHQ where I assume your 'Tech Team' while away the hours watching the hamster trundle round its wheel to keep the website creaking. Meanwhile, nearly two years since the start of this thread, ADVANCED SEARCH STILL DOESN'T WORK!

Too bored to do anything but bump.

It's not quite the same issue that I have, but it is a problem with Advanced Search. (Maybe you already know about it - in which case, sorry).

But when the results of an advanced search come up, NONE of the links are clickable - not the titles, nor even the categories (AIBU, Chat, etc).

Mine doesnt do it either!! Never really use it but gave it a go to see if it worked, used this thread as my experiment.

Searched for 'wishin' posted by silverysurfer, and it showed me the right post in the search results. When i clicked on the post it took me to the top of the page, and then auto took me down tonthe last post, where i had put a bookmark (always leave a bookmark at the bottom of a post when im finished reading) but didnt take me near the 'wishin' post.

On android device, using chrome.

Interestingly though, i have my pages set to 100 posts per page, so the 'wishin' post was on the 2nd page. But when i clicked the link from the advanced search, it had all the posts on one page, rather than page 1 and 2.

Not working for me either - tried chrome and internet explorer.

Thankfully then, it's not me going gaga.

@soniamumsnet what news from the 'Tech Team'?

I'm not sure whether it's hilarious or horrifying that we're about to see January 2020, and a simple issue from January 2018 still hasn't been fixed.

At the start of this thread @Pinkywoo wasn't even pregnant, now she has a son.

I have no doubt Pinkywoo's son will celebrate his 18th birthday and Advanced Search will still not have been fixed
