Advanced Search Question

Hi Tech, asked this question on another thread but it's better off in here.

Posting from a TwatPhone iOS 11.2.5 using Safari.

When I use advanced Search, when I click on the post (or poster) I am looking for, instead of taking me directly to the post within the thread, it drops me at the top of the thread. It never used to.

It's a pain in the arse. Especially if it's a long thread (eg, I was looking for a post I made a long time ago about the flooding in my home town. Adv Search found my post really quickly, as I knew a 'key' word and (obvs) that it was posted in my name. However when I clicked on that actual post it took me to the top of that thread and I had to scroll through, nearly to the bottom, to find the post I was after).

Another poster has the same issue, but someone who posts using their laptop doesn't. Is it just a phone thing?

I grumbled for the nth time this issue on a thread titled "AIBU to think this site is really basic" in early February.

Just been to look to see if I could find what I wrote. It comes up as a thread I'm on when I advanced search my name but when I click I get the broken link message.

Agree with a pp that this happens more and more frequently too.

Come on HQ! can you kindly put a mini rocket under Tech?

I agree, this thread was started in January 2018. I find it hard to believe it takes 15 months to fix. I did suggest back in February that if the Tech Team decided it was beyond their capabilities, to just tell us so we know it's never going to be fixed but Anya said Good news! Tech have replicated the issue so it's in the queue, it should be fixed soon some time never I guess.

I got excited for a moment but no change. As an example I searched my name for the past year and chose a thread at random - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/a3162566-To-ring-him-at-work#75471825

I can't remember how many posts per page I have it set to but for me this is a four page thread and I posted five or six times. It still takes me to the top of page one if longer than one page.

Nope still not working, if I click on the thread title of the search result it works, but clicking on the relevant comment brings up this.

We can see there's still an issue on mobile - we're looking into a fix.

I'm using a laptop, not a mobile and it's still not working for me.

It has been going on for at least a year and a half now!

When you get the Oops page it's because part of the URL has been duplicated. If you edit out '/Talk/' it then takes you to the page.

I think on a mobile it redirects you to an oops page with a different URL so it's harder to spot.

This is what I get on a desktop.

I don't get an 'Oops Page'. When I search on a poster's name, it will take me to their post if it's a one page thread. If its multiple pages then it opens the correct thread but sticks at the top of page one and does not take me to to the post.

I get the same @Silverysurfer, which is very annoying if it's a 40 page thread.
