Advanced Search Question

exLtEveDallas · 31/01/2018 21:05

Hi Tech, asked this question on another thread but it's better off in here.

Posting from a TwatPhone iOS 11.2.5 using Safari.

When I use advanced Search, when I click on the post (or poster) I am looking for, instead of taking me directly to the post within the thread, it drops me at the top of the thread. It never used to.

It's a pain in the arse. Especially if it's a long thread (eg, I was looking for a post I made a long time ago about the flooding in my home town. Adv Search found my post really quickly, as I knew a 'key' word and (obvs) that it was posted in my name. However when I clicked on that actual post it took me to the top of that thread and I had to scroll through, nearly to the bottom, to find the post I was after).

Another poster has the same issue, but someone who posts using their laptop doesn't. Is it just a phone thing?

Would appreciate you taking a look, cheers.

I suspect not @Batshittery, I'll believe it when I see it! Look after yourselves in this madness, and Michael is doing well thankyou.Smile

SilverySurfer · 20/03/2020 13:55

Hi Batshittery and Pinkywoo/Michael

I am going to cut back to bumping monthly, just to keep the team on their toes although will give them some slack at this difficult time. Smile

Batshittery I saw your name on another forum but didn't say hi in case it wasn't you but someone who had stolen your name.

Please take care of yourselves.

Batshittery · 20/03/2020 20:26

Shock No it wasn't me. I'm only on this forum. The bloody cheek of some folk!

Batshittery · 20/03/2020 20:26

Where was it?

Batshittery · 08/04/2020 17:40

Hello Smile
Just popped in to say hello and check you're all (both) ok.

Pinkywoo · 15/04/2020 19:49

All good thanks @Batshittery, just a bit bored! How are you?

Batshittery · 15/04/2020 19:53

Hi Pinky I'm faring well thanks. I'm working from home and that's keeping me busy. The sun has been shining, so not much to complain about really, all things considered Smile

callmeadoctor · 15/04/2020 23:17

Ah now they are wanting us to pay for it, I suspect.....................

Morning, everyone.

Am almost scared to say this and jinx it but... Advanced Search is fixed!

Tech say: Hi all, This should be working correctly now If you click the nickname link next to a message in the search results page, the link should take you to that specific message in the thread, regardless of which page of the thread that message is on. Thanks so much for your patience with this.

If you spot any further issues, could you let us know on this current thread about it?

Thanks again for hanging on in there.

Pinkywoo · 08/06/2020 07:38

Well bloody hell it works! @SilverySurfer @Batshittery have you seen this? Hope you're well and not gone lockdown crazy Smile

Batshittery · 08/06/2020 08:15

@Pinkywoo Good morning. I hope you and Michael are keeping well.
@SilverySurfer You too. Smile
This looks exciting (but mine did usually work). I’ll give it a try later.

ClosdesMouches · 29/06/2020 19:56

Still not working for me.
Anyone else?

ClosdesMouches · 08/07/2020 13:43

Shall I assume that I'm the only MNer left in the world who still has problems with this?

Tech · 08/07/2020 21:41

Hi, @ClosDesMouches what's the problem you are seeing? Do you get an Oops, or do you get the top of the thread rather than the message in question?

Just to be clear, if you click the thread title in the results page you get the top of the thread - it's only if you click the poster's name that it should take you direct to that particular message. Is that what you are doing?

As a quick experiment, could you search for something, click a result and then paste the URL from the browser address bar into a message here so we can see what the link was. Thanks very much.

ClosdesMouches · 28/07/2020 10:17

Is the above post from Tech actually from Tech? It's not highlighted blue.

Anyawy, I get an 'Oops'. It's not happening on every thread and as the law of the sod would have it, I've just tried multiple searches and it worked fine.
Next time it happens I will link it here.
The issue that was taking me to the top of a thread is resolved some time ago.
