Could you please let me know who I contact about deregistering from Mumsnet?

DaemonPantalaemon · 27/11/2017 14:44

I would like to deregister and have all my posts deleted please. The racism in the Harry Meghan threads, coming on top of all the other racist and ignorant comments I have had to read over the years have finally pushed me to wanting to leave.

There is no point in reporting because, in my experience, no one at Mumsnet headquarters recognises this kind of incipient racism as being a problem.

I have learned a lot here, and made some good and amazing friends, but it is time I moved on. Please send me an email or a message to let me know how to do it.

Thank you.

Well, there is Flouncers Corner. Or you could just log off and not look at the site again? No one is forcing you to stay.

Sparklingbrook · 27/11/2017 14:47

[email protected].

Yeeeha · 27/11/2017 14:53

There is a deregister you account option under your account page.

Not hard to find, just took me two seconds because it was EXACTLY where you would expect it to be

PickAChew · 27/11/2017 14:56

You need to contact the prime minister, directly.

Or just stop looking.

gamerchick · 27/11/2017 14:59

I was all confused thinking who the hell is Harry Meghan when he’s at home!

There’s a de reg button in your settings I think.

Whinesalot · 27/11/2017 14:59

Can you actually ever get all of your posts deleted?

BlackCoconut · 27/11/2017 15:01

You can just never go on mumsnet again. You don't need to make a big hoo-haa about leaving.

Mooncuplanding · 27/11/2017 15:01

There is a special section for flouncers

see you in a few weeks

Battleax · 27/11/2017 15:02

Where's the bad thread(s)?

I've only seen two about them so far.

Happy to help with the reporting Smile

Don't go, though. Stay and call it out.

madwoman1ntheatt1c · 27/11/2017 15:02

Only if you have been outed in RL / crazy stalker etc.
Not because you have changed your mind about being a member. They did a few in the wake of jeffreygate security because everyone's passwords were available on the web, but it's a pita so you usually have to have a definite RL reason for needing your posting history removed (domestic violence etc)

Gruach · 27/11/2017 15:04
Sad
DaemonPantalaemon · 27/11/2017 15:09

Thanks very much to all who helped. I will contact MNHQ on the email given.

If you report this thread to them it might speed things up.

Hi DaemonPantalaemon,

Please do get in touch by mailing us at: [email protected] and we can chat further.

We're sorry you feel let down by our moderating; that's not what we like to hear. Did you report the posts that concerned you? We're post-moderated, so we rely on reports to alert us to posts that break Talk Guidelines. We can see that we only had reports for one post on that thread, which we removed - but if there are others that you'd like us to look at, just hit the report button and we can take a look. Flowers

Battleax · 27/11/2017 15:42

This stuff?

"I for one can't understand how she's half African American?!"

"She doesn't strike me as black at all"

"Bit black"

It's pretty bad TBF

SophieLMumsnet · 27/11/2017 16:25

Thanks, battleax - we've received your reports, and are on the case. If you think we've missed anything - just let us know and we'll take another look.

Battleax · 27/11/2017 16:27

Ha. My scrolling finger's had it but thanks. I was just being nosey really in going to find out what had upset OP. I hope she decides to stay.

Happyemoji · 27/11/2017 16:45

How does this website allow posts like that to stay. It's disgusting and that's why I put everything I have into educating my kids. Mumsnet calls this a middle class website how?

BoomalakkaWee · 27/11/2017 17:13

Happyemoji, casual classism is just as repugnant as casual racism.

BIWI · 27/11/2017 21:50

What does being middle class have to do with anything?!

oldlaundbooth · 27/11/2017 21:52

Not much, BIWI, not much.

Balonder · 27/11/2017 21:54

I agree with you about the racism on MN. I reported a post about 'having a paddy' being an offensive, racist thing to say (as an Irish person). It was looked at but apparently it was OK to say as half the people on the thread didn't think it was racist (the non-Irish and the willfully ignorant I presume)
