Calling all Ebayers!

We've become an ebay affiliate which means that if you go on to ebay from mumsnet - button at top of page - then we get tuppence ha'penny a time - more if you're a first time user. So if it's not too much trouble we'd be exceedingly grateful if you wouldn't mind, grovel, grovel... (can you tell i'm on my knees?)

You need a grovelling icon

Kayleigh · 21/07/2004 10:40

a short cut from my favourite site to my second favourite site - a girl couldn't ask for more

mummysurfer · 21/07/2004 11:33

will do, check it almost everyday too

charliecat · 21/07/2004 11:36

Cant see the button on home page?

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 21/07/2004 11:50

Advert at top right Charliecat. Featuring woman in black giving you a vaguely menacing look, as if she's saying click here or the cat gets it.

No worries - will do. Is it just me (or Macs) or has the second column of text on the home page shrunk recently? Looks a bit weird.

charliecat · 21/07/2004 11:54

Nope not showing up for me,switched pop up bloker off too

Tissy · 21/07/2004 13:14

do we just have to go there, or do we have to spend some time/ bid? I could sit here clicking back and forth for half an hour if you like!

charliecat · 21/07/2004 14:51

Well I would love to make mn a few pennys as I dont visit anywhere but here and ebay but i just cant see the lady.

Bunglie · 21/07/2004 14:53

I need no excuse to go to ebay, ask and it shall be done oh great one......

Hulababy · 21/07/2004 14:54

charliecat - just to check with you...it is not on the home page of MN. I can see it at the top of the active conversations page though.

Hulababy · 21/07/2004 14:56

And the top of this thread's page too....

charliecat · 21/07/2004 14:57

Well its not here or there lol must be something we have on the pc, athough still have the pop up switched off. Thanks though!

Bunglie · 21/07/2004 15:18

I'm in trouble now, just bid on 2 dresses and whilst I did that my dh ate my lunch......huh!

Janh · 21/07/2004 21:45

TWO AND A HALF P?????

They didn't get where they are today....etc....

I have just taken to ebay in a big way so will do my best but echo Tissy, do we have to bid/buy after we link for you to get the massive 2½p, or is a visit enough? (I visit a LOT! )

PicadillyCircus · 21/07/2004 21:48

Whoops - was visiting ebay before and forgot to go there from here . Will try and be better next time I ebay.

fruitful · 26/07/2004 21:50

So do Mumsnet get paid if we just go to Ebay and look around? Or only when we bid? Its two whole extra clicks to go via Mumsnet so I'm only doing it when Mumsnet will get some money!

tech · 27/07/2004 16:29

I'm not sure I approve of all this ebay business. I'm banned from Ebay for life for "offering suspect software". It was in fact totally legit. I accidentally bought a Mac rather than a windows copy of something, then pc world wouldn't take it back because I'd taken the shrink-wrap off before I realised, so I tried to sell it on Ebay. Then Macromedia (the "verified rights owner" as ebay call them) complained and I got banned for life with an alarming letter telling me not to try register again even with a different email address or they'd send the boys round. I did quite enjoy writing to Macromedia and telling them that I control a huge annual software budget (white lie / exaggeration) and that they'd never see any of it ever again (true). Not sure they were that fussed really, but I felt better. Don't buy Dreamweaver, kids. Use Adobe GoLive. It is the slogan of tech.

wilbur · 27/07/2004 16:32

As I am currently stalking a toilet seat on ebay, I will go from MN in future.

zebra · 27/07/2004 16:33

Yeah, but tech, if I understand, it's just a click-thru, so I can merrily click-thru all day to help Mumsnet, and probably continue my chintzy ways of hardly buying anything!

Actually, I have a little shopping list for August when I reckon prices dip on Ebay. Heehee...

What's the name of the other UK auction site? Supposed to be better than Ebay in some ways...

Piffleoffagus · 27/07/2004 16:44

God I go there about 30 million times a day, better cut me in on the profits

sammac · 27/07/2004 16:49

When on holiday saw the depute chairman of ebay's holiday home- worth a squillion dollars!!!! keep clicking

lilibet · 27/07/2004 17:11

Justine, what do we have to do to get you the money? Just click on the link, buy something or just bid? Can you get money if we sell something on there? (dp sells loads!)

Justine (mumsnet) · 27/07/2004 23:29

Sorry for delayed response - only just noticed this. We get a small fee per transaction (whether buying or selling i think) - 5p! - and somewhat more per new registration. So don't think it'll bring us into the black but hey, every little helps.
Many thanks.

Is it just me or is the ebay link not working?

nutcracker · 20/08/2004 16:00

It's working fine for me.
