Just this really. Why are Trump threads being allowed in AIBU? Needs a board for people who are obsessed with this "topic" or should be in politics/news?

why aren't they moved to politics?

Why don't you just click hide?

amispartacus · 21/02/2017 15:56

I notice you haven't started any threads in site stuff asking about other topics being in the 'right' place.

IF threads are in the 'right topic', that means that people have to actively search them out.

OTOH - being in AIBU and Chat opens it up and spreads awareness.

That's the same argument used for other important topics.

This is important. It's far more important than parking threads. MN offers a great opportunity to spread awareness, discuss issues, contact MPs and to be informed.

An informed population is far better than an uninformed population. Hiding topics away 'in the right place' means that people can stay uninformed because they don't come across it.

At least on AIBU and Chat, people can see things and choose to become engaged.

Doesn't bother me at all.

MercyMyJewels · 21/02/2017 16:09

There are lots of threads not in the 'right' place.

There is usually only one Trump thread running at a time. These Trump threads are clearly titled, As you evidently need some advice as to how to navigate Mumsnet, here's a hint: don't click threads you are not interested in. You will find that solves your problem.

But btw the Trump threads are very valuable, hugely informative and funny - Thanks Ami et all

I certainly can't see AIBU overrun with Trump threads? It's just one or so at a time, isn't it? That's hardly taxing. I find the number of MIL threads at any one time hugely irritating, but I don't complain about it. Hmm

ToastDemon · 23/02/2017 20:40

There is precisely ONE Trump thread at a time. And it's probably one of the funniest, cleverest and most relevant threads on MN at the moment.
MN HQ please don't move it to a less trafficked section.
