Delete a thread -admin?

calimommy · 07/02/2017 06:40

Can I have a thread deleted please?

OP posts:
KatherineMumsnet · 07/02/2017 09:57

Hi there calimommy,

If you report the particular thread to us using the 'report' button, we can take a closer look for you.

calimommy · 07/02/2017 15:21

Well I've been informed that it's not possible to delete my own threads. Which is extremely disappointing and frankly makes me 100% less interested in ever making a post again. MN has a few tweaks to make in my opinion.

I'm sure they'd welcome your advice.

DonkeyOaty · 07/02/2017 15:26

This has always been the case - one may request deletion but it is at discretion of HQ as to whether the request is acted upon. Its in ts and cs somewhere (sposed to read when you sign up)

RacoonBandit · 07/02/2017 15:27

I'm sure they'd welcome your advice.

Dammit AS is not working and I want to know which thread it is Blush

HoneyDragon · 07/02/2017 19:01

AS isn't working but that thing they call Google is Wink

HoneyDragon · 07/02/2017 19:03

AIBU will miss you I'm sure. You've posted a bit previously before do surely had an idea of how this place works?

RacoonBandit · 07/02/2017 19:09

Thank for the tip Honey Wink sadly that was a very boring thread and not as delete worthy as i was lead to believe. Who do i complain to?

gamerchick · 07/02/2017 19:12

Can you imagine if people could delete their own threads? it would be carnage. Lots of snarling.

Lolabels · 07/02/2017 19:20

How do you look at op other threads?

calimommy · 07/02/2017 19:27

Oh for goodness sake. There's no need to gang up, I was simply interested in ending the thread or leaving it because I felt I had enough advice from both 'sides'. I'm not cross with anything anyone or annoyed with what was said. But rather I had a good idea of where I stood and what I could do differently next time if I wanted a different outcome. I just didn't feel like discussing it ad nauseam. But even if you 'unwatch' a thread you will still get updates and emails about it. So I supposed that deletion was the only alternative. Clearly it isn't and I'll just have to wait until everyone bores of discussing it.

Although I do think that MN should have an edit function, purely for the amount of auto correct posts that are published, I doubt I'm alone in that.

Littleballerina · 07/02/2017 19:31

Just stop looking at it.

NomDePlumeReloaded · 07/02/2017 19:34

The site would be empty if folk could self delete threads

RacoonBandit · 07/02/2017 19:34

You can hide it. That stops notifications and emails i think.

Oh and nobody is ganging up Hmm

PencilsInSpace · 07/02/2017 19:35

You can turn off email notifications in 'customise' - if you're on the desktop version, click the little down arrow next to 'talk' at the top of the page. You can hide the thread by clicking 'hide this thread' link at the top or bottom of the page (again, on desktop version).

I don't know where these features are on mobile version and app, someone else might?

Waltermittythesequel · 07/02/2017 19:37

Ganging up?! Grin

I don't think MN is for you...

Starlight2345 · 07/02/2017 19:41

I had to google thread too.

Wink

I am not sure you have any reason to delete.

Redglitter · 07/02/2017 19:42

Ironically by asking for it to be deleted you've just drawn more attention to it

PurpleDaisies · 07/02/2017 19:44

Although I do think that MN should have an edit function, purely for the amount of auto correct posts that are published, I doubt I'm alone in that.

This pops up quite a lot but I think it would quickly be found to be a nuisance with people changing the sense of their post rather than just correcting typos.

It's not exactly awful if your post contains an error.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 07/02/2017 19:44

There is a flounders corner.....
