It's migraine inducing tbh - and I mean that seriously.

So I won't be able to post for long

Anyway we shouldn't have to go to all that bother of fiddling with our PCs imo.

Beetrootccio · 21/02/2007 11:22

this is hte only place that the adverts are so so in your face - or maybe it is becasue I spend more itme on here. BUT I won't be as it is horrid and really innappropriate

Beetrootccio · 21/02/2007 11:25

I have reported it - i think everyone should

OP posts:
JJMumsnet · 21/02/2007 11:27

Should be down now. Not sure if it's supposed to be there or not, so have asked for confirmation.

If everybody could shop at Boden, JL and Jojo in the meantime, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Beetrootccio · 21/02/2007 11:29

ds is at work and his MAC is at home so can't fathom it at present however try this

Macintosh OS 9

Look in System Folder:Preferences, and in the System Folder itself, and see if you have a file named "Hosts". If not, create one in a text editor.

Add this entries to the Hosts file:
adserver.adtech.de 3 A 127.0.0.1

In Macintosh OS X The hosts file can be found in

/etc/hosts

for those of you on a PC follow the instructions posted earlier - its easy

Beetrootccio · 21/02/2007 11:36

okay - will try this - does it get rid of all the adverts?

JJ - sorry don't buy form Boden, etc -

OP posts:
NadineBaggott · 21/02/2007 11:40

I think it will block all mn ads

You can opt out of DoubleClick's monitoring scheme, go to and follow the directions . It will place a cookie on your computer that will disable doubleclick's tracking. Unless you follow the directions below you will still see their ads.

Beetrootccio · 21/02/2007 11:45

OKAY _ I think I will ask dh to have a ook as sadly I don't really get step ONE!

Thanks though Jools -

Sorry for delay - we've all been out this morning one way or another. Haven't seen this ad yet - not sure I want to from the sound of it - but we will definitely take your word for it and get it removed asap.
Apologies for the upset.

JustineMumsnet · 21/02/2007 13:15

Oops sorry - just seen JJ's message - thought she was off this week on half term - JJ why are you at your desk?
Anyway it's down... good.

JustineMumsnet · 21/02/2007 13:28

Hi again,
I've just spoken to our ad agency who are full of apologies for this ad - was a mistake their end and should never have been put up.
So glad I missed it (although fairly curious at the same time)
