Same!! It's driving me totally bonkers!! Can't read active convos at all it's basically covered by a huge ad that I can't get rid of Angry

engineersthumb · 20/11/2016 23:12

I've had the gif gaf pop up as well on Android. Makes it totally unusable.. agr!

Tigerstar123 · 20/11/2016 23:13

The irony that this popped up (again) while I'm looking at this thread...

Huge, intrusive adverts driving me slowly bonkers!
SuckingEggs · 20/11/2016 23:14

Yes! Sort this out. Fucking horrible ads. It'll put me off MN completely if you don't sort this out.

rollonthesummer · 20/11/2016 23:17

Yep-huge Giff Gaff adverts whenever I come on.

It makes me a) not want to use Mumsnet and b) cancel my kids' Giff Gaff contracts.

Kind of counter-productive really!

LittlePickleHead · 20/11/2016 23:18

Yes I just came on here to post the same thing! Blimmin huge giff gaff adverts that I can't get rid of and that cover the top half of the phone screen so I can even navigate off the page.

Please get them to stop!

Karoleann · 20/11/2016 23:20

Me too - really bloody annoying. Same here, makes me less likely to use a company as they are so intrusive.

How do you get rid of them?

WalrusGumboot · 21/11/2016 07:44

What on earth?? Are you deliberately trying to piss us off MN? Grin

Apart from anything else, I'm already with giffgaff!

Gingernaut · 21/11/2016 07:57

Boilers, giff gaff and Muslim mothers.

There's usually a little x in the top right hand corner which allows you to get rid of that ad and say why (inappropriate, ad covers page etc) but it's missing on these ones.

SmellySphinx · 21/11/2016 08:00

Seriously doing my nut today fucks sake!!!!

WalrusGumboot · 21/11/2016 08:01

The x took me through a series of steps but didn't remove the ad.

I can't believe these things aren't properly trialled before being rolled out. It's like MN isn't the huge, successful site that it actually is. One thing after another.

Blu · 21/11/2016 08:10

Aargh, yes, mobile site unusable on iPhone because of the GiffGaff ad.

SomeoneElseThanMe · 21/11/2016 08:14

I've got Firefox on both PC and my phone. Installed the add-on called Ublock Origin (addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/) and don't see any ads ever on any website.
Can only recommend it :)

Think it exists for Chrome too...

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 21/11/2016 08:15

The little x to close down the ad doesn't seem to work and I have to shut the whole thing down and start again.

Same problem on an Android phone with ad blocker.

I'll have to do something useful instead. Humph!

EstelleRoberts · 21/11/2016 10:11

Same problem. What kind of idiot thinks this is a good way to advertise? I am taking a careful mental note of all the companies whose ads have inconvenienced me, so I can avoid buying off them like the plague.

WalrusGumboot · 21/11/2016 12:05

I'm not entirely sure if it's the advertisers' fault though Estelle? I can't imagine this is how it's supposed to work.

Aderyn2016 · 21/11/2016 12:43

This is really pissing me off now.
What with all the porn pop ups a little while ago and now this. The site is becomming a hassle to use.

HeyMacWey · 21/11/2016 12:45

Yes - this has been happening to me today - am on the mobile site on Chrome.

Aderyn2016 · 21/11/2016 12:45

The little x just takes you to a question asking if the add is blocking the whole page. When you tick yes it doesn't get rid, you have to click off the thread and start again.

KlingybunFistelvase · 21/11/2016 14:05

Same problem! Also getting the Giff Gaff ad a lot today.

cakesonatrain · 21/11/2016 15:15

Just happened to me for the first time. I'll be leaving if it continues.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 21/11/2016 15:24

Yip giff gaff making the site unusable on my iPhone 5s.
Between this and the dailymail continually pinching stories makes me wonder if a wee 24 hour boycott might make MNHQ take some notice.

CommunistLegoOoOoBloc · 21/11/2016 15:28

I HATE THAT STUPID GIFGAF ADVERT.

You can't close it and I will never use them now.
