Huge, intrusive adverts driving me slowly bonkers!

Every flipping week it's something else- porn pop ups,buzzy tesco ads and now massive adverts which take up half the screen!

Come on HQ, sort it out please!!

Same!! It's driving me totally bonkers!! Can't read active convos at all it's basically covered by a huge ad that I can't get rid of

I've had the gif gaf pop up as well on Android. Makes it totally unusable.. agr!

Yep-huge Giff Gaff adverts whenever I come on.

It makes me a) not want to use Mumsnet and b) cancel my kids' Giff Gaff contracts.

Yes I just came on here to post the same thing! Blimmin huge giff gaff adverts that I can't get rid of and that cover the top half of the phone screen so I can even navigate off the page.

Please get them to stop!

Me too - really bloody annoying. Same here, makes me less likely to use a company as they are so intrusive.

There's usually a little x in the top right hand corner which allows you to get rid of that ad and say why (inappropriate, ad covers page etc) but it's missing on these ones.

The x took me through a series of steps but didn't remove the ad.

I can't believe these things aren't properly trialled before being rolled out. It's like MN isn't the huge, successful site that it actually is. One thing after another.

Aargh, yes, mobile site unusable on iPhone because of the GiffGaff ad.

I've got Firefox on both PC and my phone. Installed the add-on called Ublock Origin (addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/) and don't see any ads ever on any website.
Can only recommend it :)

The little x to close down the ad doesn't seem to work and I have to shut the whole thing down and start again.

Same problem on an Android phone with ad blocker.

Same problem. What kind of idiot thinks this is a good way to advertise? I am taking a careful mental note of all the companies whose ads have inconvenienced me, so I can avoid buying off them like the plague.

I'm not entirely sure if it's the advertisers' fault though Estelle? I can't imagine this is how it's supposed to work.

Yes - this has been happening to me today - am on the mobile site on Chrome.

The little x just takes you to a question asking if the add is blocking the whole page. When you tick yes it doesn't get rid, you have to click off the thread and start again.

Yip giff gaff making the site unusable on my iPhone 5s.
Between this and the dailymail continually pinching stories makes me wonder if a wee 24 hour boycott might make MNHQ take some notice.

I HATE THAT STUPID GIFGAF ADVERT.
