Fucking hell, what the FUCK have you done to the COLOURS?

I had them set to a nice muted sagey green for OP posts, and a quiet pink for mine. Now I'm living in a neon green horror movie, and I've gone grey.

Put things back as they were, please, and for the love of god tell Tech to stop meddling.

And to add insult to injury, the Saintly Stratters is vom pink on this thread. Which is wrong on so many levels.

The good news is, if you were able to customise your colours before you can still do so - click the arrow next to 'talk' in the top left and choose 'customise'.

The bad news is, although the colour names are the same, the colours themselves no longer pay bear any relationship to their name. Just for fun, do have a look at 'silver' it is now vile salmon pink. 'Olive' is a not unpleasant pale duck egg aqua.

A knowledgeable poster on the other thread says the hex codes (whatever they are) are all buggered up

Everytime I read threads on MN, the colours have changed.

I used to have darkish green for OP and lavender for me.

I now have 80s Peach (despite my customise drop down claiming forest green) and no idea what my post will appear as. On my mobile I had salmon pink also appearing but can't remember where (and too lazy to walk back downstairs and check)

This is an almighty cock up, even by MN standards - it's been going on for days now, and no fix in sight, just more tinkering and ballsing it all up even more.

Surely it's time to stop trying g to put patch-on-patch-on-patch and actually build a website that works?

Yes, I had indeed chosen Forest Green, as I suspected. It shows up in my threads as a sort of glowing pink/mauve/lilac. My eyes!

Fids - exactly! I have no intention of going into Customise and trying to fix this myself in case I lose Classic in the process!

MNHQ /Techs just need to PUT IT BACK THE WAY IT WAS - there was NO need to mess everyone else's colours up! Still

I still have lavender for my own posts and blue for MNHQ, but that lurid green for the OP's post is just hideous.

So I changed the OP's posts to "Forest Green" which turned them bright peach. Slight improvement but still awful.
Now I've changed them to Olive, which is ok, but a bit too similar to MNHQ blue and nowhere near as good as the forest green I had in the first place :(

Even when I select Silver, it's no longer anything on any sort of greyscale, it's pink too!

I browse MN when I'm at work at the previous colour schemes were muted enough to not draw attention to my screen. Not any more.

I agree, just put it back to how it was.

My posts went pink this morning, they used to be silver grey. Just waiting for my purple OPs to be changed without my permission!

MNHQ know about this and tech are looking into it

Tech seems to spend so much time 'looking into things' these days that I no longer envisage a row of high tech screens but rather a dusty bench full of crystal balls

My 'silver' OP posts are the same dusky pink as demonstrated by WhatchaMaCalllit up thread. It's harder to read for me. My own posts remain light pink, which I'm ok with. Please bring back the proper silver.

Though I can't remember what I was previously. But definitely something more sophisticated than pink.

If...if, they've done this to mean the OP's posts are highlighted to everyone and not just those who've sorted their settings, it might not be a bad thing. Cancel the cheque etc.

Why those of us who've already done our settings can't be left alone is a bit odd

They've fixed it now. Mine's all back to normal.

Now the silver is silver (and I think my posts will appear to me in pale pink - which isn't too bad) and is a marked improvement on yesterday.
