Picture of a woman giving a blow job with tag line 'your girlfriend will never know'

Was minding my own business reading a thread in chat!

I know this has been experienced by other users, any closer to a fix?

IonaMumsnet · 09/10/2016 22:32

Sorry to disappoint, Tosno. Everyone else - we're really sorry about this. Sounds like one was in Chat. Could you tell us where else this is happening? And any other info, such as what sort of device and browser you are using? Many thanks.

RebeccaMumsnet · 11/10/2016 09:48

Hi all,

Thanks for this. So sorry that this is still going on and thanks for all of your help trying to identify the issues. Tech are on this and we may post some more questions shortly. If it happens again, could you please try and screenshot the image and copy the URL and send to us at [email protected] please?

Many thanks in advance and apologies again.

AngieMumsnet · 11/10/2016 11:07

Hi There,

What a nightmare, please accept our apologies for this, it is surely really unpleasant.
We are working with malware detection companies to see why this is continuing to happen, as usual, we are also screening the site using an iphone but have not see the offending popup/redirect yet. All our partners are also aware and are doing the same.
The problem is the culprits are becoming increasingly clever and target very niche segments of users to ensure they do not get caught, for example, they will only target females of a certain age, using a specific network at certain times of the day, they can even go as far as changing this target every few minutes.
Please do not click on these ads, close them down if you can.
A screenshot would be great and click URL would be even more useful (but only if you can copy it from the address bar without clicking on it).
A couple of people have mentioned the app, can I make sure it was the talk app OR the mobile site, this is super important information.

Thanks for your support.

Hi kali110

What app store? Do you have any more information on this?

AngieMumsnet · 13/10/2016 11:34

Hi OutDamnedWind

What device are you using, when you saw the offensive popup did you manage to close it?
Have you seen it more than once?

AngieMumsnet · 13/10/2016 14:16

Our security team has asked if you can provide the below information if/when you see this offensive redirect please;

  • What device are they on
  • Are they in Safari / Chrome / WebApp
  • Is it Desktop or Mobile
  • Where are they located (physically)
  • What network are they on? (EE? 3? etc)
  • What time did it occur
  • Was it an AUTO redirect or did they click an ad (on purpose or by mistake) that took them somewhere unexpected

AngieMumsnet · 19/10/2016 09:12

Hi All

Our security team are looking into it right now.
Will keep you posted.
Sorry.

AngieMumsnet · 19/10/2016 09:47

NeversellahouseCollie
That is really useful information, thanks so much.
Sorry once again.

Hi kali110

You are referring to the Ebay ad, those are our native ad units.
You should not see them everytime and there should be a cap in place, I will look into why that is not working.

AngieMumsnet · 21/10/2016 11:15

Hi kali110
Those ads you are referring to are our native ads.

I am not sure what the text is, can you report that to - [email protected] with all the details, who the text was from and a screenshot of it if possible and we will look into it ASAP.

AngieMumsnet · 21/10/2016 16:10

kali110

Thanks for emailing in, someone will look into it ASAP.

KatherineMumsnet · 26/10/2016 12:59

So sorry about this, everyone. Thanks very much for flagging. We've alerted tech, who will be looking at this urgently.

AngieMumsnet · 04/11/2016 13:10

Hey AgnesWaterhouse

Not what you want to see and really disappointing to hear as we have put so many measures in place to combat this, can I please ask what device you are using, iphone or android? Were you on wifi or 3g/4g?
Can I also request you clear your history and see if issue persists?
I am keeping an eye on this thread so will respond swiftly.

Thanks

AngieMumsnet · 04/11/2016 13:55

Ok, please keep me updated, I entered your URL into our system to see who I can trace it back to and blocked it as added protection.

AmyGMumsnet · 04/11/2016 18:00

Hi all

Thanks for letting us know about the issues today.

We believe this should be fixed now but if you see anything else untoward please do post to let us know and we'll look into it as soon as we can.
