It just all strikes me as a bit convenient that a thread in which several people behaved like bullying twats has disappeared in an unusual way.

There was a thread the other day about Angela Merkel regretting open door policy.

It vanished no message just disappeared Shock

Just5minswithDacre · 26/07/2016 15:44

Did it?

The end of replies to reports has made more difference than I expected too.

Everything feels more unexplained and random.

You've just deleted it because some of the more famous Mumsnetters were being damn right nasty. I'm sorry that I'm relatively new to the site (lurked for years) but just because you don't want to be moaned at my the famous troll-hunters, so you delete me, is out of order

That is what it's in danger of looking like HQ.

How many people commented on the first and second threads that the bullying on the first thread was one of the worst things they'd ever seen on MN?

Hopefully they're looking at it all again now AMJ.

HQ are very fair about reversing decisions on the odd occasions when they make a mistake.

Can you grab an hour with a Brew and distract yourself with something light? You've had a rough 24 hours Flowers

AMJones I hope you get your explanation. I too would be interested as to what is going on with it, that was MN at its worst - out and out bullying. Why don't the bullies get banned? There's a very clear policy of no troll hunting, you have to report instead, so why do the bullies get to stay?

Having said that, if I were you I'd probably be more concerned with my husband's arrest than chasing up MNHQ. Hope things are getting worked out on that front OP.

I have no idea why your emails aren't being answered, sorry. What's the latest with DP?

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 26/07/2016 17:25

I've just clicked what thread this is.

I read it last night, and there was a lot of uninformed comments. For example, whilst it's best practice to leave a liaison officer with a family, it's not necessary and depending on the crime and Force involved, may not happen at the arrest stage. Seizing just the devices listed on the warrant would be standard, if they know what they are looking for, getting a warrant to seize specific goods is much easier than getting a warrant to search a house.

OP is not married to her DP, if I'm remembering rightly, so has no right to information - and again, if the crime and current thinking means the police are only interested in him at this time, they wouldn't speak to her or introduce themselves.

It doesn't sound like they broke in and arrested him. It wasn't a raid. It sounds like two or three policepeople visited OP's DP at home, and asked him to accompany them to the station, along with requesting that the provide access to the devices listed in the warrant. If he chose to accompany them, nothing more would be necessary.

I'm not 100% on this bit, but I'm not sure a phone call would be necessary if he was arrested from home and someone was there and aware of his location. The usual purpose is to inform someone of where you are. He would be allowed to call a solicitor, but most people use the duty solicitor.

There was a big pile on of people who spoke with authority. They may be educated from police TV, or second-hand through a friend or partner in the police, or guessing. They may know the procedures of a specific force well, but not general policy. Once you have a lot of people throwing questions and accusations, the thread becomes unbelievable.

It was a definite example of a thread where everyone wanted to say they called troll first. I understand why, with the very similar troll thread recently, but it makes the site unusable. Any actual advice was buried amongst people trying to pick holes.

If it was a troll, fair enough. If it wasn't, though, there was someone at the end of the computer who wanted to use MN for support and got absolutely torn apart for not knowing nine million details - when knowing everything just after the arrest would have been far more suspicious, especially in troll terms!

I may be taking this slightly personally as I was accused of trolling after the Christmas dinner thread... and I absolutely wasn't. It hurt. It shouldn't - it's the internet, etc - but it did, anyway.

OP - Is your DP home?

Sheer curiosity,,but why have AMJs posts been removed?

Has she been banned?

This whole saga is leaving very nasty taste in the mouth. It really would be useful to have some comment from MNHQ.

Just5minswithDacre · 27/07/2016 16:33

She must have been banned.

This new uncommunicative MNHQ feels very odd.

Hi there,

To answer some of the questions here, the OP of that thread was a previously banned poster and has been banned again.

WellErrr · 27/07/2016 23:21

MNHQ you've changed. That personal touch has gone

Thank you.

I understand that MNHQ have better things to do than respond to individual reports, but really, a quick explanation on the offending thread takes no time.

StaleOreo · 28/07/2016 07:33

Thanks for the update HQ.
