The million or so EU Referendum threads

ABCAlwaysBeCunting · 24/06/2016 18:14

Is there any chance these could be moved into the actual EU referendum topic? Getting a bit fed up with hiding them all from Active. Thanks!

I just came on to start the same thread.

It's like splat the rat out there.

LurcioAgain · 25/06/2016 07:43

Yes please move the whole damn lot into the referendum topic so I can hide it.

DonkeyOaty · 25/06/2016 08:08

Yes please!!!!!

HoneyDragon · 25/06/2016 08:16

Well MNHQ need to close the site then. They did it on NYE .....and justified it.

Surely this is worse because it's real

Samcro · 25/06/2016 08:17

PLEASE move them
I have hidden them but they are breeding like rabbits

SouthWestmom · 25/06/2016 08:22

I reported theop this morning with a plea for removal.

I think we'll have to accept that the initial storm of threads will proliferate then die down by next weekend. Hide button deployment wise.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 25/06/2016 15:49

I'm not sure a lot of engagement is actually going on though, Ego.

GrimmauldPlace · 25/06/2016 16:05

I'm sick of active being taken up with people demanding reasons for people voting one way or another. One thread is not enough apparently. There has to be eleventy million of them asking exactly the same question. Oh, but then there are the sneaky ones that have a title that cleverly hides what it's about until you click on it and then you have to stop yourself from jamming a pen in your eye because it's another fucking referendum thread.

OlennasWimple · 25/06/2016 21:01

I came here to start a thread on exactly this - so please MNHQ can you do it? Thank you muchly

It used to happen Ego.

Back when this was all green fields, MN used to be somewhere I'd come to read that sort of discussion. Now I go elsewhere.

OrangesandLemonsNow · 25/06/2016 21:16

I have reported a few posts that were really vile calling posters that voted a certain way all the names under the sun and I had the same reply.

It has given venom and hate a free reign.

Mummylin · 25/06/2016 21:25

I have hidden over 60 threads since yesterday all to do with the EU. Some in chat, some in AIBU. I am sick to death of seeing all the spite. Think I will have a couple of days away from here.

SouthWestmom · 25/06/2016 22:05

I've had a response and basically they will be left and we need to hide them.

Sparklesilverglitter · 25/06/2016 23:37

I agree it would be great if they was all moved to the EU section.

It wouldn't be so bad them being chat and AIBU if people could talk about it properly without getting nasty to each other there is even personal attacks on each other Sad

IPityThePontipines · 25/06/2016 23:40

Why? It's makes a change from emotional vampire trolls.

MNHQ are never that strict about tidying up threads, so I doubt they'd start now.

ABCAlwaysBeCunting · 25/06/2016 23:45

FFS. It's been like whack a mole with them all day.

I want bad neighbours, parking, obscure etiquette problems and Pils, goddamn it!

It wouldn't be so bad if people could just look at the eleventy million threads already started rather than just starting a new one but no. They just have to start a new thread about what Brexit will mean for their pets. And the horrible behaviour on some of them. They need a link to the spirit of MN.

@BankWadger

I am really really upset by this reply I recieved from MNHQ today

Hi there BankWadger

Thanks for your report. There's been a lot of goadiness on every front today so we're letting a lot of it go where posts don't actually breach talk guidelines, but we will make a note of this and just make sure it is just a one-off rather than a habit!

Hope you have a lovely weekend

Iona
MNHQ

So has decided, that just this once, it's okay for people to be goady fuckers. Well I guess HQ were on the leave side then, and don't give a flying toss about a large proportion of their users. If had been worded differently (We're over whelmed, we just can't keep up) I wouldn't be so upset, but this just reads as, Nah.. Fuckit. The twats can be unreasonable twats.
If people acted like this after the general election they were pulled up on it. A vote that has far deep reaching permanent consequences however and it's game on to allow all sorts of nastiness at a time when further division is the absolute last thing the nations of the British Isles need.
If I could take my regular thread away from MN and keep that lovely swearyness in my life, I would be seriously considering deregistering right now. That I can't is the only thing keeping me here right now.

Very very sad right now HQ.

Hi there Bank
We have been wading through treacle for about a week now with reports, there are many that aren't a quick and straightforward personal attack that we can easily delete.
Instead we've had plenty of reports where we have to read a post, or even a long thread to look into context and decide whether the post falls on either side of a line between free speech and hate speech. We don't like to make snap judgements.

When emotions run high which they have been for the last couple of weeks, we can get behind see RebeccaMN's post here to explain more

We are but human and we sometimes get it wrong (for which we apologise)

You'll note, we hope that Iona said "where posts don't actually breach talk guidelines, but we will make a note of this and just make sure it is just a one-off"

We rarely delete things that don't breach our guidelines.

We're sorry that you feel that we don't give a toss about our users - nothing
could be further from the truth.

May I reiterate a plea from another thread?
Whichever way you voted, please leave the personal attacks out and remain civil

Peace and love
MNHQ

Hi all,

Thanks for all the feedback.

We've had a lot of requests for threads about the referendum to be moved to the Referendum topic, so we are going to start doing this so that people can hide the topic if they wish.

Thanks again!
