Can you work some magic so that mentioning a MNer's name lets her know she is being called to that thread?

... like on Facebook?

When a MNer's full name is written in a thread in a specific way, an automatic message can go to their MN Inbox or directly to their email when a MNer's full name is written in a thread in a specific way.

It would be very useful if someone sees a Relationship issue that AnyFucker would give great advice for, or a breastfeeding thread in Chat where tiktok was needed, for example. I would like to call Remus's attention to a thread where someone is talking about a non-fiction book about mountain climbing.

What do you think?

Definitely NO from me unless you can opt out. There is a big difference with FB and that is that you can choose only to be tagged by friends and then approve the tags before they appear in your timeline.

I don't like the practice of mentioning MNers who aren't already on a thread by name, whether it's for suggesting they might help or "favourite MNers", "Mners you miss" etc.

I think it's a duplication of the PM system really. I also think people might get eleventy million tag notifications and get pissed off.

My opinion might be useless though, I don't even use Facebook Grin

Or you'd get people whinging that they never get a tag notification...

AlmaMartyr · 02/02/2016 09:58

I wouldn't want this. I share Clam's concerns that it could look as if the opinions of some posters are more important than others.

It would just add to the problem of perceived royalty/regulars, some of who get regularly bashed as it is.
