Are multiple log ins 'allowed'

Can I have this cleared up once and for all please HQ?

Can a user of the talkboards have multiple user names active at the same time?

Can you clarify the rules on namechanges for me please?

If I were to go ahead and do it what would the consequences be?

What circumstances would you allow it in?

These are the rooolz regarding name changing. We don't allow people to have multiple accounts, so if you have more than one account with us just drop us a line and we'll straighten things out (don't worry, you won't be in trouble - it's just the multiple accounts ring alarm bells at our end, so we don't want to jump to the wrong conclusion if it's just been a mistake on your part).

Generally, you can name change as frequently as you want, providing you don't do so in a way that breaks our talk guidelines, i.e posting to mislead or inflame.

So for example, it's perfectly legitimate for me to be posting in The Dog House about my Labrador under one name, and be discussing my husband's infidelity in Relationships as someone else.

If it comes to our attention that someone has major contradictions in their posts, then we will take things further. We do understand though, that sometimes people slightly fudge details, such as their location, or their DC's ages, in order to avoid being identified, so we always approach things on a case by case basis.

So - multiple names on one email account = great (we all knew this anyway)

Multiple accounts with diff email addresses = not allowed

Kate, I know ye are all hellish busy, but can you see your way to sticking multiple email accounts = not allowed into FAQs or talk guidelines. It ain't explicit. Cos the praxis is evolving, y'see

Cos the praxis is evolving, y'see - that is such an elegant phrase. I'm going to endeavour to get in into conversation every day . Good point re FAQs and guidelines, will take another look.
