That CV on the front page is obscenely condescending; what on earth are you thinking?

ItsNotEasyBeingGreen · 24/09/2014 07:19

Hmmmm I'm not sure what to make of it. I think it's an attempt to promote a cv writing skills course for women who have maybe been out of the workplace for a long time (excellent idea incidentally) by trying to be funny. I'm not particularly amused but I'm not offended either.

DishwasherDogs · 24/09/2014 07:19

I saw it on FB and assumed it was an irritating spoof of saccharine memes that MN hates so much.

HoneyDragon · 24/09/2014 07:21

I don't get who it's condescending toward?

It's a random selection of quotes from mn.

MrsQueen · 24/09/2014 07:33

I don't have any problem with it.

Fenton · 24/09/2014 10:23

Obscenely Condescending?

I think you're reading rather to much into it.

rembrandtsrockchick · 24/09/2014 10:27

I thought it was rather funny.

Bonsoir · 24/09/2014 11:01

It was about as funny as publishing nude photographs of celebrities on the internet.

It's the 'husband is useless' bit that gets me. Way to propagate the 'only mum can do it RIGHT' thing that makes martyrs of so many women.

Sparklingbrook · 24/09/2014 11:20

I just took it as tongue in cheek. Anyone thinking it's serious has a sense of humour failure.

OTheHugeManatee · 24/09/2014 11:46

No-one here is thinking it's serious, just that as 'jokes' go it's at best weak and at worst helping to perpetuate stereotypes that actively work against women going back to work after a career break raising children.

OwlCapone · 24/09/2014 11:49

Over reaction, much?

Oof. I agree, it's rubbish. I get that it's supposed to be tongue in cheek but really? The useless husband meme, twice? Never occurred to anyone to have a section on 'Teamwork: Daily coordination with partner regarding household responsibilities and schedules'?

Anyway no way do you have the toughest bits of parenting on there, even in jest. Saying enough and cutting food equally, really? That's the toughest bit? I don't think so.

tribpot · 24/09/2014 13:03

Agree, it's very like those trite pictures people share on Facebook 'share this if you think being a mum is the hardest job the world etc etc'. Another example of MN's dumbed down agenda. The 'husband is useless' thing is offensive.

Pagwatch · 24/09/2014 14:35

God above it would take quite a lot more than a few cliche jokes to make me feel undermined as a mother.

The sucking the sprinkles off a fab lolly thing would work on a whole other type of cv

RandallFloyd · 24/09/2014 14:44

Admittedly, I'm not clutching my sides with mirth but obscenely condescending seems a bizarre overreaction and I certainly couldn't be arsed to be offended.

Agree that the Fab lolly lady could have a career she may not have imagined Grin

Pagwatch · 24/09/2014 14:54

Grin not just me then..

HoneyDragon · 24/09/2014 14:57

No. Nude pictures of celebrities are never funny Sad

Pagwatch · 24/09/2014 15:03

Hahahahaha

BIWI · 24/09/2014 15:06

Perhaps MN is no longer the place for you, Bonsoir? You don't seem to get the humour Wink

Fenton · 24/09/2014 15:06

Oi, Honey that's my pic of The Hoff you stealer Grin

Badvoc123 · 24/09/2014 15:09

I thought it was funny
