What gives? Keep getting a bad gateway page tonight. On ipad.

OP posts:
slithytove · 05/08/2014 22:36

Ipad on safari. Been about a week, loads tonight.

I've been cursing sky Grin need to visit other websites on occasion

coppertop · 05/08/2014 22:38

Is this all an evil plot by the Techs to wangle (steady there, auto-correct!) a shed upgrade?

ElephantsNeverForgive · 05/08/2014 22:38

Also a bit slow, please feed the hamster and oil his wheel.

Kleptronic · 05/08/2014 22:42

YetAnotherHelen you definitely have trouble getting to the actual bits which dole out the site. A site this big will have multiple instances (server farm) and failovers, which are, well, failing to swap over. It's probably not even your tech per se, but whatever cloud infrastructure you're hosted on.

I've had a peek under the skirts (not today though) and I've got to say I'm surprised you're still on that platform, to be frank, I bet they're cheap, and loyalty's good and all, but they don't seem to be able to handle it. Or are you moving, and that's the trouble, the cups have arrived, but no-one can find the kettle?

thekitchenfairy · 05/08/2014 22:53

I've been having problems for days now, mostly use iPad and impossible to use on phone.

Most infuriating thing is I don't always get the error message it often just seems to hang. Especially the first time I log on for the day. Frustrating.

tribpot · 05/08/2014 22:56

It's been happening for days. Are they really in the process of fixing it? If it's going to stay broken for another few days I would rather know than be fobbed off.

ShamTech · 06/08/2014 09:18

We have tracked down the cause of the bad gateway errors some people are seeing and will have that fixed today.

Apologies for the intermittent service.

Rainicorn · 06/08/2014 10:52

Mine has been the same, musing safari on ipad.

Have you retired the hamster in the wheel and got a newer one?

secretsquirrels · 06/08/2014 11:10

No mesages about gateway but oh it is slow. I give up.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/08/2014 11:51

yay shamtech - good luck!

OP posts:
KateSMumsnet · 07/08/2014 12:07

This is actual footage of ShamTech dealing with the cause of the gateway errors.

Has anyone been bothered by a Balrog had the error recently?

Oh you bad bad gateway
OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/08/2014 12:08

Scary gateway!!

Its been fine for me today (which is more than I can say for my internet connection!)

OP posts:
Lottiedoubtie · 07/08/2014 12:17

Grin it seems to fixed here, thanks!

tribpot · 11/08/2014 16:32

Today I'm getting a load of

408 Request Time-out

Your browser didn't send a complete request in time.

Could be a problem at my end but thought I'd flag it in case anyone else is seeing the same.

Fairenuff · 11/08/2014 16:36

I'm getting a message about the server but didn't read it properly. Will post next time it happens.

Fairenuff · 12/08/2014 11:30

HTTP 408/409 server busy

Anyone else having problems?

tribpot · 12/08/2014 11:33

Yes, getting loads of 408s this morning. Have a look when it happens to see if you have an incomplete URL. The last time I saw it happen, the part of the url after the question mark was missing, i.e. at the moment this page is bookmarked www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/2149092-Oh-you-bad-bad-gateway?msgid=48827553 because I've bookmarked your penultimate message, Fairenuff. Last time I got a 408 the content after the ? was missing, hence the 'incomplete request' error message that I'm seeing.

JuniDD · 12/08/2014 22:13

I've been getting 408s all day (first day of mat leave...time on my hands!) Wink

Sometimes the page loads when I refresh, sometimes not.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/08/2014 09:59

404's and 408's here too. The positive side is that the message comes up very quickly.

OP posts:
KateSMumsnet · 13/08/2014 11:27

Curses! We'll take another look chaps.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/08/2014 12:55

Thanks Kate. What a nuisance for you.

Thumbwitch · 13/08/2014 16:08

"Today I'm getting a load of

408 Request Time-out

Yep, had loads of those today and last night (Australian time)

And NOW, to add insult to injury, you seem to have removed the facility to post by doing Ctrl & Enter on the desktop site, which I had got used to and really liked! Is that a --fuck up technical glitch too or has it been removed? Please bring it back!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 13/08/2014 18:11

Please let that be a technical glitch. So much better with ctrl+enter.

Not least because I've just tried to post this message about there being no ctrl+enter by trying to press ctrl+enter Blush.

Thumbwitch · 14/08/2014 00:30

I know, Rafa - it's infuriating, isn't it? My fingers are completely conditioned to Ctrl/Enter now and I keep doing it despite knowing it doesn't work! Grrr.
I have another thread on this now, they're looking into it :)

ShamTech · 14/08/2014 09:41

We're taking a look at the Ctrl-Enter problem now.

Is anyone still getting bad gateway errors?
