Isn't a dragon Welsh? Confused

overthehill74 · 26/07/2014 13:41

Is the N Ireland one ready yet??

KateSMumsnet · 26/07/2014 17:17

@overthehill74

Is the N Ireland one ready yet??

We're actually drawing a bit of blank regarding what would be an appropriate N Ireland emoticon - any and all suggestions gratefully received Smile

Isn't a dragon Welsh? Confused

We've asked the dragon who he's supporting this year, and he says that seeing as the daffodils have got the Welsh covered, he's going to lend his mighty roar to the England team.

He is surprisingly verbose for a dragon.

JustSquirted · 26/07/2014 17:24

The Red Hand is the one being used by Northern Ireland.

Thankfully I'm not Welsh but I think there will be major confusion - especially after just having been to the Rugby 7s where I saw lots of Welsh Dragons and not a single English one Hmm

Won't be using the [jock] head: ok for Burns' Night but doesn't reflect the patriotism that a Saltire would engender. Yet the English were able to get a St George's Cross for the World Cup...... not that I'm bitter Wink

Here's a link to the kit for the NI squad if that helps

littledrummergirl · 29/07/2014 14:45

Just seen this. How do I get one please?

chemenger · 29/07/2014 14:52

Dragons are welsh and it is hard not to feel a bit puzzled as to why we Scots are the only ones with a joke emblem. What's wrong with a thistle? You know an actual emblem of Scotland, not something vaguely gingerist and insulting? Even a bagpipe would be better and I hate them. Sorry to be so humourless.

Flags would include everyone as well as the home nations.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/07/2014 12:33

And would include the home nations you missed.

prettybird · 30/07/2014 14:44

Yy chemenger - you've put your finger on why I was so insulted uncomfortable by MNHQ's suggested Commonwealth emoticons.

chemenger · 30/07/2014 14:53

Thanks prettybird, I'm glad it's not just me.

isthisanacidtest · 03/08/2014 20:10

HQ - the games are finishing and you didn't manage to get this sorted?

I'm more than a little disappointed.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 03/08/2014 20:39

It is pretty shitty that they couldn't be arsed - unl!like the world cup this as was a massive event being held in the UK.

wigglesrock · 03/08/2014 21:44

Still not managed to sort yourself out over the NI smilie then, never mind other Home Nations you've missed. Bit of embarrassment from start to finish with regards to MNHQ on this sporting event.

KateSMumsnet · 04/08/2014 17:43

Hey everyone,

Really sorry - as you guys have said, we've dropped the ball on this one. A chunk of MNHQ were on holiday so this got left by the wayside, which obviously isn't really good enough. We didn't mean to neglect anyone, and we'll make sure an oversight like this doesn't happen again Flowers

prettybird · 04/08/2014 17:48

Ah well. Sad

You've got 4 years to get it sorted for the Gold Coast Games although that won't be the same as it's not being held "at home" Grin
