Weird thing - keep getting bouced to other sites

Sometimes when I access mumsnet from my dropdown list having been on another website, it opens the page (e.g. the main AIBU page) but then immediately bounces me off to another website. The website I get sent to isn't a spammy one (this morning, it was a Tesco site) so it is the type of link you might find on the side of Mumsnet, so I assumed that perhaps I had clicked something. But it's now happened on about 5 occasions so I'm fairly sure it isn't that, and the weird thing is, when I click the back button on my browser, it takes me back to whatever website I was on before loading Mumsnet.

Today's ad was a World Cup betting site !

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 26/06/2014 11:20

I've been getting ad pages, only on MN. I'm using full site on a Nokia lumia so internet explorer probably? This happened to me a while back too,it only happens when using MN though, hasn't happened today but did yesterday.

magentastardust · 26/06/2014 12:21

I have been having this too. On laptop.

Lambstales · 26/06/2014 15:14

Just had a flipping world cup site. It's the first time it's happened whilst changing a page rather than at the beginning.

OOAOML · 26/06/2014 19:44

I got a world cup site this morning when paging through a thread.

Bunnyjo · 27/06/2014 11:36

It's happening to me too, on two different computers! Browser is IE11 and it's when accessing the desktop site. Originally I was getting bounced to Tesco/GHD, but now it's the dodgy upgrade IE site.

JoeTech · 27/06/2014 14:29

Thanks for all the details. Sorry this is happening, it looks like we have a misbehaving ad or two. I'm trying to work out why this is happening now, I've been able to get it to show up for me once but it's quite a pain to track down as it's so random. I'll keep looking and hopefully get it fixed soon.

hoedown · 27/06/2014 14:41

I have been redirected to the dodgy 'update now' page too. I was ob my laptop and using IE. When I pressed alt and F4 to get rid of it I just got taken to another pop up from the same dodgy company.

Lambstales · 27/06/2014 21:48

Just come onto MN for the first time today. Got the stupid browser update again.... Very persistent.

Tapirbackrider · 27/06/2014 22:11

Just logged in, and was redirected to this browser update again.

Am starting to think there's a virus hiding/buried in one of the adverts.

MrsBartowski · 29/06/2014 19:33

I'd just had this too - sending me to an update your browser thing.

The whole page kind of froze but eventually let me click the close button but it did do the thing about navigating away from this page.

I have a laptop and use Chrome.

AnneOfCleavage · 29/06/2014 19:40

OMG I thought it was just me and my PC. I've had ASDA and TESCO ads come up and now every time I click on mumsnet (it's in my favourites bar at the bottom of my screen) I get a spammy one now that wants me to download some anti virus thingy. DH is not happy about it as it's also a works PC so doesn't want spam on it Sad

Hope it gets resolved soon. I'm grateful you're on to it though, thank you Thanks

Just to say we're still working on this - we haven't forgotten you!
