HQ,I was musing on the Giro thread about writing out a nice, easy, accessible Idiots Guide to what is actually happening in a pro bike road race. Obv at first look it's just a load of colourfully dressed riders in skin suits with sunspecs and looking all serious as if they have too much testosterone than they know what to do with!(Womens racing excepting) When obviously we do know that a stage race is more like a game of poker played out over 5-6 hours on 320 wheels, often up and down mountains in all sorts of weather, heavily reliant on team mates and involves the fittest athletes on the planet.
For a newbie (and we were all that at some time) it can look just weirdy and not make any sense at all. I've googled for a guide and there isn't anything that makes things clear in a nice friendly humourful way (they all sound so serious), so you'd know your wheel-suckers and escapados from your domestiques.
If this looks like a useful idea, then we'd need an interwebby link capability like a blog space or something?, of which I have none.
So any advice or linking facility would be very welcome.
