Mumsnet Legal Fund

JustineMumsnet · 15/08/2006 10:37

Many of you have very kindly posted on here and written to us directly that you would be willing to contribute to a legal fund for costs relating to our current legal dispute with Gina Ford.
So we've set up a legal fund here . Please be assured that any monies raised will go entirely towards our legal costs, and were it by any chance the case that we raised more than our costs we would pass any excess to an appropriate charity in consultation with you of course.
Many thanks,
MNHQ

Hope you get lots of support here Justine

oliveoil · 15/08/2006 10:45

How much do you need to raise? Is it a really hideous amount?

JackieNo · 15/08/2006 10:49

Done.

SaintGeorge · 15/08/2006 11:38

Any possibilty of a Paypal option Justine? I am skint but have some cash stashed in my Paypal account.

Gizmo · 15/08/2006 11:44

Done.

Enjoy your holiday, Justine.

MerlinsBeard · 15/08/2006 11:47

can i make a suggestion please? please don't have a supporters list, at least not one that anyone but yourselves can see. reason being, people may not be in a financial position to help out even though they want to.

AvaLou · 15/08/2006 16:05

Why can mumsnet bosses mention her on this thread if we can't?

GeorginaA · 15/08/2006 17:42

Probably because it's them who will get taken to the dock if she takes offense, AvaLou.

SecondhandRose · 15/08/2006 18:03

Just made a donation and will make another one if things have to progress. You're worth every penny, thank you for everything.

G o For it.

SecondhandRose · 16/08/2006 07:52

BUMP

nailpolish · 16/08/2006 07:58

done by post, credit card is as useful as a chocolate teapot these days

Uwila · 16/08/2006 08:35

I think the contributors should be named because it encourages people to give, and hence will result in more money for mumsnet.

If there is a surplus, I would actually prefer that it channeled back into mumsnet. Whether that is for help with the running costs or funds for a Grand mumsnet meet-up or whatever. Is this possibly?

Blandmum · 16/08/2006 08:36

If there is money left, it should go to help rehouse children in the lebanon IMHO.

The politcs of the issue are, to my mind imaterial when there are children homeless.

oliveoil · 16/08/2006 09:20

I think it should go in a MN pot as well, absolutely.

wannaBe1974 · 17/08/2006 09:10

I think that considering this is now almost certainly going to court, there is unlikely to be a surplus.

I wonder if it would be possible to have updates, or something on the page to show how much is being donated? not by individual, but just a total of how the fund stands day on day?

Uwila · 17/08/2006 10:57

What do you mean "is now almost certainly going to court"? Have I missed something? Is there an update we can have? Is Miss Ford continuing with the lawsuit. If you can't post anything here for obvious reasons, can someone tell me where I can look?

Incidentally, ther have been a few newcomers on the West London meet up thread. I think they found mumsnet because of the recent publicity.
