Can't change my nickname back, also being offered other people's names as options

Have briefly changed nicknames to this one of one particular thread to avoid outing my other name.

Now I can't change back to my usual name. It lets me change the name and says it's saved, but it isn't, it stays as this name.

And when I start to type it, it brings up options for other nicknames that aren't mine but which I think I recognise as in use by other people.

Actually, now I've posted, my name has changed back.

But until I clicked 'create conversation' it still had the other, 'wrong' name showing.

This is tres weird, sorry this is happening to you. Can you give us a bit more info about your browser etc?

I'm having the same problem. Just tried to namechange back to my usual name but it won't let me. (I took this name on for a specific personal thing) I tried an older name of mine too and it wouldn't go to that.

Same thing happened last week, but I didn't notice till after I posted something (I reported that one at the time)

Oh, OK, the namechange to the older name has worked. But only when I actually posted. Before then it didn't work.

FWIW, last week, it didn't change after I'd posted, it posted with the wrong name.

Oh - this has given me the prompt to change back to my old name. Will test it now....

I had the same thing yesterday on my iPhone. Took about 6 attempts.

It won't let me do it. I was also updating my surname and postcode, and that does not seem to have saved either

I'm having the same problem using Chrome. Can't save change of nickname, can't save password change either. Tried logging out and logging back in again, but it still seems to change only when it feels like it.

I daren't post anything now in case my alternative nn comes up - I use my alternative name for threads that deal with more personal issues, so I really don't want it linked to MrsSteptoe.

Did anyone else get offered a name that's never been theirs?

One of the names that came up when I was changing mine was 'SadOldBag' and that's never been one of my names.

Well, not on here anyway, although I suspect I might have been called it behind my back once or twice

I had this recently too but got it working on about the 5th attempt.
It would be great if the namechange screen had a drop-down list for you to pick a previously used name from. I always worry about accidentally mistyping and inadvertently creating a new name just one letter different than the old name.

I've name changed today. Initially it didn't change it and showed my original name as i was typing until I pressed 'Post Message' then it changed to the new NN
